Lucas LaRochelle
Lucas LaRochelle is a Canadian artist and designer based in Montreal, Quebec. They are best known as the creator of the community-based online collaborative mapping platform Queering the Map. Early life and education LaRochelle grew up in Ontario. In 2016, they received a certificate in participatory design, co-design from HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht. In 2020, LaRochelle received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design and Computation Arts from Concordia University. The Prix Ars Electronica is one of the best known and longest running yearly prizes in the field of electronic and interactive art, computer animation, digital culture and music. It has been awarded since 1987 by Ars Electronica (Linz, Austria). In 2005, the Golden Nica, the highest prize, was awarded in six categories: "Computer Animation/Visual Effects," "Digital Musics," "Interactive Art," "Net Vision," "Digital Communities" and the "u19" award for "freestyle computing."
