Lucas Grandin
Lucas Grandin (born 1976 in Le Mans, France) is an artist, curator, teacher, and active initiator of various projects. Lucas Grandin has developed an approach combining sound, video, light, low-tech with a particular focus on the urban planning and architecture. Currently he lives and works in Sarthe, France. Biography In 2001, Grandin obtained DNSEP from the College of Fine Arts in Le Mans. He experienced sound as his primary material for work and experimented with it in various forms: video and sound installations in situ, performances, diverted machines, etc. For him the sound, being a noise, music, idea, or material, is a natural energy, message and social claim. Grandin’s approach is supported by concepts of recovery and recycling, be it material or ideological (copyleft, low-tech). Le Mans
Le Mans (, ) is a city in northwestern France on the Sarthe River where it meets the Huisne. Traditionally the capital of the province of Maine, it is now the capital of the Sarthe department and the seat of the Roman Catholic diocese of Le Mans. ''Le Jardin sonore'' is a permanent public artwork located in Douala (Cameroon). It was created by Lucas Grandin in 2010 and is made of a wooden structure built on three floors that serves as a panoramic viewpoint on the Wouri River, as a botanical garden and as a dewdrop percussion organ. The artwork ''Le Jardin sonore'' est d'une hauteur de 10 mètres, longueur de 6,83 mètres, une largeur maximale de 4,52 mètres. doual'art is a non profit cultural organisation and art centre founded in 1991 in Douala, Cameroon and focussed on new urban practices of African cities. History doual'art was registered as a non profit organization in 1992 and it was established by Marilyn Douala Bell and Didier Schaub. In 1995 they created ''Espace doual'art'', an exhibition space and gallery in the neighbourhood of Bonanjo in Douala.
