Luca Visentini
Luca Visentini (born 1969) is an Italian trade unionist. Elected general secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) at the organisation's 5th World Congress in Melbourne, Australia, in mid-November 2022, he stood aside on 14 December 2022 following his arrest and conditional release in relation to the Qatar corruption scandal at the European Parliament. On 11 March 2023, the ITUC General Council voted to dismiss Visentini for accepting funds from Antonio Panzeri. He was previously the General Secretary of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC). He was reelected at the ETUC Congress in Vienna in May 2019, having been first elected in 2015. Sharan Burrow
Sharan Leslie Burrow (born 12 December 1954) is an Australian trade unionist who served as the general secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) from 2010 to 2022 and as president of the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) from 2000 to 2010. She was the first woman to become General Secretary of the ITUC since its foundation in 2006, and was the second woman to become President of the ACTU. Early involvement in Australian labour movement Burrow was born in Warren, New South Wales to a family with strong involvement in the labour movement. She graduated in teaching with the University of New South Wales in 1976 and became a teacher in the early 1980s, which allowed her to become involved in the New South Wales Teachers Federation. Esther Lynch
Esther Lynch (born 1963) is an Irish trade unionist. She is General Secretary of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC). Lynch was elected as General Secretary of the ETUC in 2022, the first Irish person and second woman to hold the post. As leader of the confederation, she is prioritising fighting for fair pay, equal pay for women, employment security, and workers' rights. Prior to that, Lynch held the position of Confederal Secretary of the ETUC from 2015, and in 2019, she was elected as its Deputy General Secretary. In the 1980s, Lynch worked in a factory making microchips, where she first joined a union. She then moved to become a political advisor to Joan Burton, the Minister for Social Affairs. Bernadette Ségol
Bernadette Ségol (born 1949) is a French former trade union leader. Born in Luzech, Ségol received a master's degree in philosophy from the University of Toulouse, then became the assistant to the general secretary of the International Textile, Garment and Leather Workers' Federation. In 1985, she moved to Brussels to become director of Euro-FIET, the European section of the International Federation of Commercial, Clerical, Professional and Technical Employees. In 2000, this merged into the new UNI-Europa, the European section of the Union Network International (UNI), and Ségol was elected as its first general secretary. Under her leadership, UNI-Europa set up European Works Councils, campaigned for the Temporary Agency Workers' Directive, and worked to ensure that the Services Directive maintained workers' rights. Luc Triangle
Luc Triangle (born 3 October 1961) is a Belgian trade unionist. Born in Leuven, Triangle joined the youth section of the Confederation of Christian Trade Unions in 1982. He worked for the federation from 1984, holding posts including director of its training centre, and leader of its international work. In 2011, he moved to become general secretary of the European Trade Union Federation for Textiles, Clothing and Leather.
