Loyd Sigmon
Loyd C. Sigmon (May 6, 1909 – June 2, 2004) was an American radio broadcaster, best known as the creator and namesake of Sig Alert. Early life Sigmon was born in Stigler, Oklahoma to a cattle-ranching family. He soon became interested in radio, earning his amateur ("ham") radio license at age 14. His broadcasting career began in 1932 at the Boston Short Wave and Television Laboratories. In 1941 he was hired as an engineer for MacMillan Petroleum Company's flagship radio station, KMPC, in Los Angeles, California. That job was interrupted by World War II; he served in the United States Army Signal Corps on General Dwight D. Eisenhower's staff. Career Sigmon resumed his job in Los Angeles after the war, rising to the position of Executive Vice President with Gene Autry's Golden West Broadcasters, which owned eight radio and two television stations on the west coast, including KMPC. Stigler, Oklahoma
Stigler is a city in and the county seat of Haskell County, Oklahoma. The population was 2,685 at the time of the 2010 census, down from 2,731 recorded in 2000. History At the time of its founding, Newman, later Stigler, was located in Sans Bois County, a part of the Moshulatubbee District of the Choctaw Nation in Indian Territory. A post office was established at Newman, Indian Territory on April 30, 1892. The community was named for Dr. Martin W. Newman, a pioneer and physician.Shirk, George H. Parkinson's disease (PD), or simply Parkinson's, is a neurodegenerative disease primarily of the central nervous system, affecting both motor system, motor and non-motor systems. Symptoms typically develop gradually and non-motor issues become more prevalent as the disease progresses. Bill Keene
Bill Keene (1927 – April 5, 2000) was a television and radio personality who became famous in the Los Angeles, California, market as a traffic and weather announcer. He was particularly known for his colorful, humorous traffic reports which included numerous puns and he became a fixture in Los Angeles broadcasting. Keene first took to the airwaves while still in high school in his native Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
