Lowlives
Lowlives (stylised in all caps) are a British-American grunge group formed in Los Angeles in 2016 by British musicians Lee Downer and Luke Johnson and LA natives Jaxon Moore and Steve Lucarelli. History Lee Downer relocated to Los Angeles after the break-up of his former band The Defiled, with whom he played under the pseudonym "Stitch D". After spending some time as a session musician, he met up with former Beat Union and No Devotion drummer Luke Johnson, and after exchanging some demos, they decided to form a band together. Initially adopting the stage name "Lee Villain", he later recruited guitarist Jaxon Moore and former Ataris bassist Steve Lucarelli to complete the lineup, playing their first show in 2017, with their first single "Burn Forever" releasing that same year. In 2018, the band independently released their first EP, ''Burn Forever'', to critical acclaim. This was followed by a first festival appearance at the Reading and Leeds Festivals that summer. Luke Johnson (musician)
Luke Anthony "Jocko" Johnson (born 11 March 1981) is an English rock musician, drummer and songwriter. He is most commonly known as 'Jocko'. Johnson began his music career in the late 1990s drumming for a spree of small local West Midlands- punk and metal bands. In early 2003 Johnson was approached by California punk band Amen to join the ranks. After his departure from Amen in 2005, Johnson formed Beat Union as drummer and songwriter with Dave Warsop, Dean Ashton and Mark Andrews. Johnson joined the Welsh alternative metal band Lostprophets in 2009 until their disbanding in 2013. Johnson has also been involved in other musical projects, including working alongside Producer John Feldmann (Good Charlotte, The Used, Kelly Clarkson) and has performed session work for a variety of bands, including The Wonder Stuff and Foxy Shazam. The Defiled
The Defiled were a four-piece British band from London mixing groove-laden hardcore/metal with electronic music influences. They have been described by ''Kerrang!'' magazine as "The saviours of UK Metal" and championed by ''Metal Hammer'' as one of the leaders in a new wave of British metal along with bands such as While She Sleeps, Bury Tomorrow and Devil Sold His Soul. Spinefarm Records is an international record label. Founded in Finland in 1990, Spinefarm was acquired by Universal Music Group in 2002. History Spinefarm Records began as a mailorder distribution company, founded by Riku Pääkkönen. The company evolved into a record label for Finnish acts such as Nightwish, Children of Bodom, and Sonata Arctica. Since 2002, Spinefarm has been part of Universal Music Group, but operates as an independent business unit. Beat Union
Beat Union was a pop-punk band from Birmingham, Bromsgrove and Redditch, United Kingdom. They were formerly known as Shortcut to Newark. The group has garnered comparisons to Elvis Costello and The Jam, as well as pop punk groups like Green Day. In 2006 the band toured the UK with Bedouin Soundclash and Zox. Their debut full-length album, '' Disconnected'', was released on Science Records in April 2008. It was produced with the help of John Feldmann, producer and frontman of Goldfinger. The Dangerous Summer is an American rock band from Ellicott City, Maryland, United States. The band's name is taken from the book of the same name by Ernest Hemingway. No Devotion
No Devotion are a Welsh rock band formed in Pontypridd and Cardiff in 2014. The group is currently composed of American vocalist Geoff Rickly of the band Thursday, along with Stu Richardson and Lee Gaze, former members of the Welsh band Lostprophets. The band's debut album '' Permanence'', produced by Dave Fridmann, was released in 2015 and was supported by four singles: "Stay", " 10,000 Summers", "Addition", and "Permanent Sunlight". Drummer Luke Johnson's departure was announced in early 2015, with former Bloc Party drummer Matt Tong recording the rest of the drums for the album. Reading And Leeds Festivals
The Reading and Leeds Festivals are a pair of annual music festivals that take place in Reading and Leeds in England. The events take place simultaneously on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the August bank holiday weekend. The Reading Festival is held at Little John's Farm on Richfield Avenue in central Reading, near Caversham Bridge. The Leeds event is held in Bramham Park, near Wetherby, the grounds of a historic house. Headliners and most supporting acts typically play at both sites, with Reading's Friday line up becoming Leeds' Saturday line-up, Reading's Saturday line-up playing at Leeds on Sunday, and Leeds' Friday line-up attending Reading on Sunday.
