Loveness Gondwe
Lovenes Gondwe aka Loveness Gondwe Chihana is a Malawian politician. Gondwe served as Malawi's deputy speaker of the NationalAssembly and she was a member of the Pan-African Parliament. Life Gondwe served as Malawi's deputy speaker. She then stood and was declared the winner of the Mzimba West Constituency, Mziba West constituency in May 2004 by the Malawi Electoral Commission. There had been six candidates and Catherine Nyahara came second. Nyahara appealled citing severali rregulaties in the election by Gondwe her supporters and her husband. The judge disregarded several points but agreed that the election should be re-run. In 2005 Gongdwe and the MEC went again to the Supreme Court to appeal the first judge's decision. The Supreme Court came to the conclusion that Gondwe's initial victory was correct and her and the MEC's appeal was proven. Nyahara was ordered to pay costs. Pan-African Parliament
The Pan-African Parliament (PAP), also known as the African Parliament, is the legislative body of the African Union. It held its inaugural session in March 2004. The Parliament exercises oversight, and has advisory and consultative powers, having lasting for the first five years. Initially the seat of the Pan-African Parliament was in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, but was later moved to Midrand, South Africa. The goal in establishing the parliament was creating a space where people from all states of Africa could meet, deliberate, and pass some policy on issues that affect the entire continent of Africa. Mzimba West Constituency is a constituency for the National Assembly of Malawi, located in the Mzimba District of Malawi's Northern Region. It is one of 12 constituencies in Mzimba District that elects one Member of Parliament by the first past the post system. Malawi
Malawi, officially the Republic of Malawi, is a landlocked country in Southeastern Africa. Bingu Wa Mutharika
Bingu wa Mutharika (; born Brightson Webster Ryson Thom; 24 February 1934 – 5 April 2012) was a Malawian politician and economist who was President of Malawi from May 2004 until his death in April 2012. He was also President of the Democratic Progressive Party (Malawi), Democratic Progressive Party, which he founded in February 2005; it obtained a majority in Malawi's parliament in the 2009 Malawian general election, 2009 general election. During his two terms in office, he was noted for being the Chairperson of the African Union in 2010–2011, as well as for several domestic controversies. In 2009, he purchased a private presidential jet for $13.26 million. This was followed almost immediately by a nationwide fuel shortage, which was officially blamed on logistical problems but was more likely due to the hard currency shortage caused by the freezing of aid by the international community. Malawi Congress Party
The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) is a political party in Malawi. It was formed as a successor party to the banned Nyasaland African Congress when the country, then known as Nyasaland, was under British rule. The United Transformation Movement (UTM) is a political party in Malawi founded by Saulos Chilima. History On 21 July 2018, Saulos Chilima launched his transformation movement called United Transformation Movement (UTM) towards formation of his political party to contest in May 2019 elections. On 1 February 2019 Chilima's UTM held meetings with two other political parties and an alliance of smaller political parties aimed at forming a united opposition. The other parties to the discussion were the Alliance for Democracy (Aford), former Malawi President Joyce Banda's Peoples Party, and the Tikonze People's Movement led by former Vice President Cassim Chilumpha.
