''Love Has Many Faces'' (subtitled ''A Quartet, a Ballet, Waiting to Be Danced'') is a box set by Canadian musician Joni Mitchell. It was released on November 24, 2014, through Rhino Entertainment. The box set compiles songs spanning Mitchell's fourth album, ''Blue'' to her most recent album, '' Shine'' (2007). Background Compiled over a period of 18 months, ''Love Has Many Faces'' collects romantically themed songs from Mitchell's back catalogue, organized into four "acts". Included in its packaging is new paintings and poetry by Mitchell. While the set was originally planned as one disc, creating what Mitchell referred to as an "emotional roller coaster", it was eventually expanded to four discs, allowing certain themes to be emphasized and "moods o besustained". This single-disc compilation was intended to accompany a ballet to be performed in 2014 by the Alberta Ballet, until Mitchell made the decision to expand the project. Joni Mitchell
Roberta Joan Mitchell (née Anderson; born November 7, 1943) is a Canadian and American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and painter. As one of the most influential singer-songwriters to emerge from the 1960s folk music circuit, Mitchell became known for her personal lyrics and unconventional compositions, which grew to incorporate elements of pop music, pop, jazz, rock music, rock, and other genres. Among her accolades are eleven Grammy Awards, and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997. ''Chalk Mark in a Rain Storm'' is the thirteenth studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell, released on March 23, 1988, by Geffen Records. ''Taming the Tiger'' is the sixteenth studio album by the Canadian musician Joni Mitchell. Released on September 29, 1998, through Reprise Records, it is the follow-up to the successful '' Turbulent Indigo'' (1994). The album was, at the time, widely believed to be her last of completely original material; this would be disproved with the release of '' Shine'' in 2007. Contributors to ''Taming the Tiger'' include Larry Klein on bass and Wayne Shorter on saxophone. ''Night Ride Home'' is the fourteenth album by Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell, released in 1991. It was the last of four albums she recorded for Geffen Records. Songs on the album include "Cherokee Louise" about a childhood friend who suffered sexual abuse, "The Windfall (Everything for Nothing)" about a maid who tried to sue Mitchell, and the retrospective single release "Come in from the Cold" about childhood and middle age. The title song "Night Ride Home" (originally titled "Fourth of July" and first performed during promotion for her previous album in 1988) was inspired by a moonlit night in Hawaii.
