Louise Stutes
Louise Ball Stutes (born July 30, 1952) is an American politician from Alaska. A Republican, Stutes is a member of the Alaska House of Representatives, representing House District 5 on Kodiak Island. She had served as Speaker of the Alaska House of Representatives from 2021 to 2023. Career Stutes previously served on the Assembly of the Kodiak Island Borough from 2006 to 2013. As a candidate for the House of Representatives, she was an advocate for the commercial fishing industry and the Alaska Marine Highway. Stutes defeated primary opponent Carol Austerman, daughter of retiring incumbent Alan Austerman Alan David Austerman (born May 23, 1943) is an American politician who served as a member of the Alaska House of Representatives and Alaska Senate. Alaska Marine Highway
The Alaska Marine Highway (AMH) or the Alaska Marine Highway System (AMHS) is a ferry service operated by the U.S. state of Alaska. It has its headquarters in Ketchikan, Alaska. The Alaska Marine Highway System operates along the south-central coast of the state, the eastern Aleutian Islands and the Inside Passage of Alaska and British Columbia, Canada. Ferries serve communities in Southeast Alaska that have no road access, and the vessels can transport people, freight, and vehicles. AMHS's of routes go as far south as Bellingham, Washington, in the contiguous United States and as far west as Unalaska, Alaska, Unalaska/Dutch Harbor, with a total of 32 terminals throughout Alaska, British Columbia, and Washington. The 2024 Alaska House of Representatives election took place on November 5, 2024, as part of the biennial United States elections. All 40 seats in the Alaska House of Representatives were up for election. Bryce Edgmon
Bryce Edgmon (born May 3, 1961) is a member of the Alaska House of Representatives, representing the 37th District. He served as speaker from 2017–2021. The district includes all or portions of the Kodiak Island Borough, Aleutians East Borough, Lake and Peninsula Borough, Bristol Bay Borough, and the Yukon–Koyukuk Census Area. As of 2024, Edgmon is the most senior member of the Alaska House of Representatives.
