Louisa Brownfield
Louisa Brownfield (born 14 April 1984), also known as Louisa Watson, is a former England netball international. She was a member of the England teams that won bronze medals at the 2006 and 2010 Commonwealth Games and at the 2011 World Netball Championships. Between 2006 and 2015, Brownfield also played for Mavericks in seven Netball Superleague grand finals, helping them win two titles in 2007–08 and 2011. Early life and education Brownfield is originally from Thundersley, Essex. She attended The Deanes School. Playing career London Hurricanes During the Super Cup era, Brownfield played for London Hurricanes. Rochford
Rochford is a town in Essex, England, north of Southend-on-Sea, from London and from Chelmsford, the county town. At the 2011 census, the civil parish, which includes the town and London Southend Airport, had a population of 8,471. History The town is the main settlement in the Rochford district, and takes its name from Rochefort, Old English for ‘Ford of the Hunting Dogs’. 2006 Netball Superleague Grand Final ...
The 2006 Netball Superleague Grand Final featured Team Bath and Galleria Mavericks. Team Bath won the inaugural Netball Superleague title with a 43–35 win over Mavericks. Joanne Binns was prominent in both attack and defence as Team Bath fought back after going behind by three goals early on. The introduction Lynsey Armitage saw Mavericks launch a fightback but it was not enough. Rachel Dunn was top scorer for Team Bath with 29 goals. Karen Atkinson (netball)
Karen Helen Atkinson (née Aspinall; born 7 June 1978) is an English netball coach and former international netball player. Atkinson first represented England in netball in 1994, and was selected for the senior England team in 1997. During her international career, she has won bronze medals at three Commonwealth Games (1998, 2006 and 2010), as well as in the 1999 Netball World Championships. She also won silver with the England team at the 2010 World Netball Series in Liverpool. In domestic netball, Atkinson played for the Hertfordshire Mavericks in the Netball Superleague, after having played an initial season with the Loughborough Lightning. She also played one season of the National Bank Cup in New Zealand with the Capital Shakers (2004), and one season in the Australasian ANZ Championship with the West Coast Fever (2008). Amanda Newton (netball)
Amanda Newton (born 8 April 1977) is a former England netball international. She was a member of the England teams that won bronze medals at the 1998 Commonwealth Games and at the 1999 World Netball Championships. She captained England at the 2007 World Netball Championships. Between 2001 and 2010 she played in seven senior finals and won four national titles with three different teams – London Tornadoes, Northern Thunder and Mavericks. Early life and education Newton is originally from the Forest Gate/Newham area of East London. She attended St Angela's Ursuline School and Sixth Form where she first began to play netball seriously. In her youth Newton played for the Plaistow-based Old Plaistovians Association. Loughborough Lightning (netball)
Loughborough Lightning is an English netball team based at Loughborough University. Their senior team plays in the Netball Superleague. In 2005–06 they were founder members of the league. They also enter under-19 and under-21 teams in the National Performance League. Using the name Loughborough Students, Loughborough University also enter teams in intervarsity leagues organised by British Universities and Colleges Sport. Together with the women's cricket team and the women's rugby union team, the netball team is one of three women's sports teams based at Loughborough University that use the Loughborough Lightning name. 2011 Netball Superleague Grand Final ...
The 2011 Netball Superleague Grand Final featured Hertfordshire Mavericks and Surrey Storm. Mavericks would win their second title. This was Mavericks sixth successive grand final while Surrey Storm's were making their debut appearance. Between 2011 and 2016 Surrey Storm would play in five out of the six Netball Superleague grand finals. However in their first three they finished as runners up. In 2011 they lost 57–46 to Mavericks. Sonia Mkoloma
Sonia Mkoloma (born 17 January 1979) is a former English international netball player. Mkoloma made her international debut for the English national team in 1999, and during her career has competed at three Netball World Championships, three Commonwealth Games and two World Netball Series. In 2009, Mkoloma was part of the World 7 team, consisting of international players from England, Jamaica, Samoa as well as former Australian and New Zealand international players. In the domestic Netball Superleague she played with the Surrey Storm (formerly Brunel Hurricanes) with best friend and fellow England defender Geva Mentor. Chioma Matthews (née Ezeogu, born 12 March 1981) is an English female athlete who competes in the triple jump event and also played netball for England. She has a personal best distance of 13.53 metres in the triple jump. Netball career Matthews, playing for Brunel Hurricanes, was part of the inaugural Netball Superleague formed in 2005. Abby Marie Sargent (née Teare; born 25 May 1977 in Melbourne, Australia) is a retired Australian netball player. Sargent was also a member of the England national team that played in the 2002 and 2006 Commonwealth Games. She also played for the Melbourne Kestrels (1999–2000) and the Melbourne Phoenix (2007) in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy. With the start of the ANZ Championship, Sargent played for the Melbourne Vixens in the 2008 season, after which she announced her retirement from netball. AENA Super Cup
The AENA Super Cup was the top level netball league featuring teams from England between 2001 and 2005. The league was organised by the All England Netball Association. Its main sponsor was Fisher & Paykel and, as a result, it was also known as the Fisher & Paykel Super Cup. It was also referred to as the Super League. London Tornadoes were the Super Cup's most successful team, winning three of the five seasons contested. Northern Thunder and Team Bath Force both won a title each. In 2005–06 it was replaced by the Netball Superleague. Teams The Super Cup featured six teams. The England national netball team's senior and development squads were shared around, and each side was initially allowed to import up to three foreigners. Thundersley
Thundersley is a town and former civil parish, now in the unparished area of Benfleet, in the Castle Point borough, in southeast Essex, England. It sits on a clay ridge shared with Basildon and Hadleigh, east of Charing Cross, London. In 1951 the parish had a population of 6482. Its main parish takes in Daws Heath to the east which is also part of the current ''Cedar Hall'' local government electoral ward. The two areas have Anglican churches. A third Anglican church is in the secular ward of ''St John's'', which is commonly conflated on maps with South Benfleet which it adjoins and it is separated from Thundersley by a narrow green buffer. 2011 Netball Superleague Season
The 2011 Netball Superleague season (known for sponsorship reasons as the FIAT Netball Superleague) was the sixth season of the Netball Superleague. The league was won by Hertfordshire Mavericks. In the grand final Hertfordshire Mavericks defeated Surrey Storm. For the first time, the season was completed in a single calendar year, starting on 22 January and concluding on 9 June with the grand final. Fiat Group Automobiles became the Netball Superleague's new sponsor. Teams Regular season Hertfordshire Mavericks finished top of the table during the regular season after winning 14 games, losing just one game all season. Mavericks confirmed their place at the top of the table after a win and a draw during the final weekend of the regular season.
