Louis Williams (American Football)
Louis Randall Williams Jr. (born April 11, 1979) is a former professional American football player who played as a center in the National Football League (NFL) for two seasons for the Carolina Panthers. He played in two games in the 2002 season for the team. Williams attended Louisiana State University, where he played college football for the LSU Tigers football team. He was selected to the Associated Press All- Southeastern Conference first-team in 2000. Louis Williams (born 1889; date of death unknown) was an English footballer who played for Bradford City, Bristol Rovers, Port Vale and Stoke. Career Williams played for North Staffs Nomads, before joining league club Stoke in 1907. He played 33 games for the "Potters" in the 1907–08 season, and scored once in a 1–0 win over Stockport County at the Victoria Ground on 8 February, only to find the club resigning from the league due to financial difficulties. Louis Tyrone Williams (born October 27, 1986) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was drafted directly out of high school by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 45th overall pick in the 2005 NBA draft. He is a 3-time NBA Sixth Man of the Year. As of March 2019, he is the NBA's career leader in points off the bench, and has played the most career games off the bench, surpassing Dell Curry's record in February 2022. Williams spent seven seasons with Philadelphia before signing with the Atlanta Hawks in 2012, playing two seasons there before being traded to the Toronto Raptors in the 2014 offseason. He spent a season with the Raptors and then signed with the Los Angeles Lakers from 2015 until the middle of the 2016–17 NBA season, when he was traded to the Houston Rockets. Louis Williams (sailor)
Ludwig Andreas Olsen (1845 – February 20, 1886), also known as Louis Williams, was a United States Navy sailor and one of only 19 people to ever be awarded two Medals of Honor. Both awards were for non-combat actions rescuing fellow seamen. Biography Olsen was born in Oslo, Norway, in 1845. He joined the Navy from California in 1870, under the name Louis Williams. He eventually achieved the rank of Captain of the Hold, an enlisted position that placed him in charge of keeping order in the ship's hold. On 16 March 1883, aboard the screw sloop-of-war off Honolulu, Hawaii, Olsen jumped overboard and saved a fellow sailor from drowning. The next year, on 13 June 1884 off the coast of Callao, Peru, Olsen again saved a man from drowning, along with Ordinary Seaman Isaac L. Fasseur. He designed churches throughout the country, particularly in Victoria, primarily Anglican but also Methodists, Presbyterians, Lutherans and Christian Scientists. He himself regarded St Andrew's Anglican Church, Brighton in Melbourne, as his greatest work. Louis Otho (Otto) Williams (1908-1991) was a botanist from Wyoming. He received his BA and MA from the University of Wyoming then a PhD from Washington University in St. Louis. He went on to be editor of the '' American Orchid Society Bulletin''. While he was editor the bulletin increased publication frequency from quarterly to monthly and membership in the society grew from 200 to 3,000. During World War II worked in Brazil on the rubber procurement project. For much of the 1950s he lived in Honduras and started the journal ''Ceiba'' there. After returning to the US he worked for the Field Museum of Natural History starting in 1960 and from 1964 to 1973 served as departmental chair. Louis Alan "Pete" Williams (born February 28, 1952) is a former American journalist and former government official. From 1993-2022, he was a television correspondent for NBC News. He served in the administration of President George H. W. Bush. Williams was raised in Casper, Wyoming where his mother was a realtor and his father was an orthodontist. "Pete" is a nickname he has used since childhood. After he graduated from Stanford University, where he had originally studied engineering but subsequently changed to journalism, he began his career in local news with the Casper, Wyoming, television station KTWO and its eponymous radio station in 1974.
