Louis-Marie Baudouin (2 August 1765 - 12 February 1835) was a French Roman Catholic priest who was the founder of the "Sons of Mary Immaculate" and also the "Ursulines of Jesus". Pope Benedict XVI proclaimed him to be Venerable on 20 December 2012. Life Louis-Marie Baudouin was born in Montaigu, Vendée on 2 August 1765, the last of eight children. His father, a gardener at the Château de Montaigu, died when Louis-Marie was about two years old. As a boy, he became a chorister in the collegiate church of St. Maurice. The canons undertook the expense of his education with a teacher in the town. When his mother died in 1780, he was looked after by his eldest sister Marie. He then went ot live with his eldest brother, Pierre Martin, curate of Chantonnay. When Pierre Martin was made Curé of Angles, Vendée, Angles in 1782, his younger brother accompanied him. Louis-Marie Ling Mangkhanekhoun I.V.D. (born 8 April 1944) is a Laotian prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. A bishop since 2001, he has been a cardinal since 28 June 2017 and the Apostolic Vicar of the Apostolic Vicariate of Vientiane, in Laos, since 16 December 2017. He is also the first cardinal from Laos. Biography He speaks Khmu, Laotian, French, and English. He is sometimes referred to as Bishop or Cardinal Ling. He is an ethnic Khmu. He was baptized a Catholic in 1952 after missionaries converted his mother. In the 1960s he studied philosophy and theology at the Voluntas Dei seminary in the Diocese of Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada. Louis-Marie Stanislas Fréron (17 August 1754 – 15 July 1802) was a French politician, journalist, representative to the National Assembly, and a representative on mission during the French Revolution. Background The son of Elie-Catherine Fréron, he was born in Paris to a wealthy family. His father was a prominent journalist and popular opponent of the philosophes and encyclopédistes, his most notable opponent being Voltaire (who openly considered Elie his enemy), and it is surmised that his father's history of conflict with the state over freedom of the press heavily influenced Louis Fréron's political views. Louis-Marie Billé (18 February 1938 – 12 March 2002) was a French clergyman, archbishop of Lyon from 6 September 1998 and a cardinal until his death in office. Life Louis Marie Billé studied Catholic Theology and Philosophy in Luçon, Angers (Catholic University of the West), Rome and Jerusalem, specialising in Biblical Theology. His career in the clergy began on 25 March 1962 when he was ordained priest for the diocese of Luçon. From 1966 to 1972 he worked as a lecturer at the priests' seminary in Luçon, and from 1972 to 1977 he performed the same task at the seminary of La Roche-sur-Yon. Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Laval on 10 May 1984, transferring him in 1995 to the diocese of Aix, Arles and Embrun. He would become Archbishop of Lyon on 10 July 1998. Louis-Marie Michon (2 November 1802 in Blanzy, Saône-et-Loire – 6 May 1866 in Paris) was a French surgeon. He studied medicine in Paris, where in 1826 he became an interne (''interne provisoire'' the preceding year). From 1830 he served as ''aide d’anatomie'' to the medical faculty, attaining his agrégation in surgery in 1832 with the thesis ''De la carie et de la nécrose''. During the same year he was appointed as surgeon to the "Bureau central", followed by ''chirurgien des hôpitaux'' in 1835. As a physician, he distinguished himself during the Revolution of 1848. In 1843 he was a founding member of the ''Société nationale de chirurgie'' (today known as ''Académie nationale de chirurgie''), and in 1863 was admitted to the Académie de Médecine. Louis-Marie Baader (20 June 1828, Lannion - 2 December 1920, Morlaix) was a French painter of German descent. Life The son of a German musician (serving in comte Jacques Boudin de Tromelin's regiment) and his Norman wife, the count saw Louis-Marie's artistic potential early and with his support he entered the École des beaux-arts in Paris in 1848, in Adolphe Yvon's studio. Initially he gained several church and private commissions, but he only exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1857 to 1914. In 1866 he won a medal for ''Hero and Leander'' and a third class medal in 1874 for ''Posthumous Glory'', allowing him to sell several paintings to the French state. He worked for a long time as a history painter, but later moved into genre work, especially on Breton life, before ending his career painting military history paintings. Louis-Marie Autissier ( 1772 – 1830), was a French-born Belgian portrait miniature painter.Aronson & Wieseman p. 93 According to Marjorie E. Wieseman, curator of European painting, at the Cincinnati Art Museum, "Autissier's success as a miniaturist was in large measure due to his talent as a colourist and his meticulous detailing of costumes and accessory." He is considered the founder of the Belgian school of miniature painting in the nineteenth century. Among his most accomplished pupils and followers were Alexandre de Latour (1780–1858), Louis Henri de Fontenay (1800–after 1852), and Dominique Ducaju (1802–1867) . Life The oldest of ten children, he refused to exercise the right of the first-born son to the majority of his parents' wealth.
