Loudoun United FC is an American professional soccer team based in Leesburg, Virginia. The team was founded in 2018 as the reserve team of D.C. United and made its debut in the USL Championship in 2019. History On July 18, 2018, the team was officially announced by USL and D.C. United as were the team's name, colors and crest. Loudoun United FC replaced Richmond Kickers as D.C. United's USL affiliate. Colors and badge Loudoun United FC colors are black, red and white, the same as parent club D.C. United. The club's crest contains the red-and-white gyronny seen in the flag and coat of arms of Loudoun County, as well as a winged horse in homage to both D.C. United's eagle logo and the county's long association with equestrian sports. Sponsorship Stadium The club plays at Segra Field, a new 5,000-seat stadium at Philip A. Bolen Memorial Park in Leesburg. Segra Field
Segra Field is a soccer-specific stadium in Leesburg, Virginia, and the home of Loudoun United FC of the USL Championship and Old Glory DC of Major League Rugby. The stadium is located within Phillip A. Bolen Park, and adjacent to Loudoun Soccer Park. In addition to the stadium, a training facility, and team offices for D.C. United of MLS and youth development academy will be housed there. The project was supposed to be completed in time for the 2019 USL season, but the completion date was moved to August 2019 due to zoning issues. Mattar M'Boge
Mattar M'Boge (born 21 June 1980) is a football coach and former player who is the current head coach of the Gambia national under-20 football team. He was promoted from his previous role as Head Coach of the U-17 national team to Head Coach of the Gambia national under-20 football team in October 2017. Tyler Freeman (soccer)
Tyler Freeman (born January 9, 2003) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a forward for Nashville SC in the Major League Soccer. Club career Born in Overland Park, Kansas, Freeman joined the Sporting Kansas City youth academy in 2014. During his time with the academy, Freeman progressed through the club ranks, playing with the under-12s through to the under-19s. On October 8, 2018, after scoring 17 goals for the under-17s, Freeman signed a professional homegrown player deal with Sporting Kansas City ahead of the 2019 season. The 2022 Loudoun United FC season was Loudoun United FC's fourth season of existence, their fourth in the second-division of American soccer, and their fourth in the USL Championship. The 2022 marked an improvement in United's overall record, winning twice as many matches as last season. Despite this, the club still finished with a losing record, and failed to qualify for the playoffs for their fourth consecutive season. Notable offseason pickups included Tyler Freeman, who lead Loudoun in goals during the season. Other major pickups included Rio Hope-Gund, Carson Vom Steeg, and Skage Simonsen. Theodore "Ted” Ku-DiPietro (born January 28, 2002) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder for Major League Soccer club D.C. United. Early life Ku-DiPietro was a standout player at Oakton High School in his hometown of Oakton, Virginia, being named first-team all-state as a sophomore in 2018. Elvis Amoh (born February 2, 1992) is a Ghanaian footballer who currently plays for Hartford Athletic in the USL Championship. Career In June 2016 he moved from First Capital Plus FC to Asante Kotoko and in June 2017 to West African Football Academy on loan, in May 2018 joined back to Asante Kotoko. 2020 Loudoun United FC Season
The 2020 Loudoun United FC season is Loudoun United FC's second season of existence, their second in the second-division of American soccer, and their 2nd in the USL Championship. The team only played one competitive match before the USL Championship suspended all league matches due to the COVID-19 pandemic until further notice. On July 11, the league resumed play in a radically different format: all USLC teams were sorted into regional Groups for a round-robin style tournament, where the top two teams from each Group would earn a playoff spot. Loudoun United was drawn into Group F with other teams from the Northeastern US, and would resume play on July 20 against Hartford Athletic. On September 25, Loudoun United announced that some of their team members had tested positive for COVID-19, and that they would cancel the rest of the season. Richie Williams
Richard "Richie" Williams (born June 3, 1970) is an American former professional soccer player and coach. Known for his diminutive height and his dogged tackling, Williams spent the vast majority of his playing career in the United States, playing one season in the National Professional Soccer League, two in USISL, two in the USL A-League, and eight in Major League Soccer, most notably for MetroStars and D.C. United. He also earned 20 caps for the United States men's national soccer team.
