Louden Swain
Louden Swain is an American indie rock band from Los Angeles that was formed in 1997. The members consist of lead singer and guitarist Rob Benedict, guitarist Billy Moran, bassist Michael Borja, and drummer Stephen Norton. The band was named after the main character in the film ''Vision Quest''. The band acts as the house band, and performs concerts on Saturday nights, for the ''Supernatural'' conventions that are held throughout the year in the United States and Canada. Louden Swain has released eleven albums, the first being ''Able-Legged Heroes'' in 2001, followed by ''Overachiever'', ''Suit and Tie'', ''A Brand New Hurt'', ''Eskimo'', and ''Sky Alive''. Their seventh album, entitled ''No Time Like the Present'', was released on January 13, 2017, and their eighth album, and first live album, ''Saturday Night Special'' in August 2017. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where Dunedin sound, a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's University of Otago, large student population. Independent labels such as Flying Nun Records, Flying Nun began to promote the scene across New Zealand, inspiring key college rock bands in the United States such as Pavement (band), Pavement, Pixies (band), Pixies and R.E.M. Robert Patrick Benedict (born September 21, 1970) is an American stage, film and television actor and writer. His 25 year career includes more than 70 television and movie credits. He is best known for his work on the television series ''Supernatural'', ''Threshold'', '' Felicity'' and the comedy film '' Waiting...''. He is also the lead singer/songwriter of the Los Angeles based band Louden Swain. Early life Benedict was born in Columbia, Missouri. He graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor's degree in Performance Studies. Arcana is a long-running horror convention that bills itself as "a convention of the dark fantastic." Arcana is held annually in late September or early October in St. Paul, Minnesota and typically features a famous author or artist from the dark fantasy genre as its guest of honor. Arcana programming includes a variety of panels, talks, and films, plus an interview and reading with the Guest of Honor. Other programming includes a book and art auction and an "open" reading. ''Vision Quest'' (released in the United Kingdom and Australia as ''Crazy for You'') is a 1985 American coming-of-age romantic drama film starring Matthew Modine, Linda Fiorentino, Michael Schoeffling and Ronny Cox. It is based on Terry Davis's 1979 novel of the same name. Modine plays a Spokane high school wrestler who falls in love with an older woman, an aspiring artist from New Jersey on her way to San Francisco.
