Lotte Pritzel
Charlotte Pritzel (30 January 1887 Breslau - 17 February 1952 Berlin) was a German costume designer, doll artist, and draftswoman. Life In 1905, Lotte Pritzel moved to Munich. She belonged to the Munich Bohème and moved in the artist circles, which met at Café Stefanie. Around 1908, Pritzel began making her "wax dolls for the showcase". The approximately 60 centimeter tall figures represented delicate dancers, mysterious Pierrots or melancholic lovers. From 1912, the biscuit manufacturer Hermann Bahlsen commissioned advertising figures that were exhibited at the 1914 Werkbund exhibition in Breslau. She was published in the Darmstadt magazine "German Art and Decoration" as well as exhibitions in Berlin 's Hohenzollern-Kunstgewerbehaus. Her dolls, which were initially flexible and were made of wax at the latest from 1917 and decorated with gauze, lace, glass beads and brocade fragments, sold for high prices. Frank Wedekind
Benjamin Franklin Wedekind (July 24, 1864 – March 9, 1918) was a German playwright. His work, which often criticizes bourgeois attitudes (particularly towards sex), is considered to anticipate expressionism and was influential in the development of Epic theater, epic theatre.See Banham (1998) and Willett (1959). In his ''Messingkauf Dialogues'', Brecht cites Wedekind, along with Georg Büchner, Büchner and Karl Valentin, Valentin, as his "chief influences" in his early years: "he", Brecht writes of himself in the third person, "also saw the writer ''Wedekind'' performing his own works in a style which he had developed in cabaret. Pierrot
Pierrot ( , ; ), a stock character of pantomime and commedia dell'arte, has his origins in the late 17th-century Italian troupe of players performing in Paris and known as the Comédie-Italienne. The name is a hypocorism, diminutive of ''Pierre'' (Peter), using the suffix ''wikt:-ot#French, -ot'' and derives from the Italian Pedrolino. His character in contemporary popular culture—in poetry, fiction, and the visual arts, as well as works for the stage, screen, and concert hall—is that of the sad clown, often pining for love of Columbina, Columbine (who usually breaks his heart and leaves him for Harlequin). Fanny Zu Reventlow
Countess Fanny "Franziska" zu Reventlow (''Fanny Liane Wilhelmine Sophie Auguste Adrienne'') 18 May 1871 – 26 July 1918) was a German writer, artist and translator, who became famous as the "Bohemian Countess" of Schwabing (an entertainment district in Munich) in the years leading up to World War I. Life Fanny (or Franziska, as she was also called later) Reventlow was born in the family seat at Husum into the German nobility, the fifth of six children of Ludwig, Count zu Reventlow (1825–1894) and his wife Emilie (1834–1905). The family were on friendly terms with the North German writer Theodor Storm. Her eldest brother Theodor died as a fifteen-year-old, her other brother Ernst, was an ultra-nationalist writer and eventually became a Nazi. While young she was in constant conflict with her mother. The Deutsches Theater is a theater in Berlin, Germany. It was built in 1850 as Friedrich-Wilhelm-Städtisches Theater, after Frederick William IV of Prussia. Located on Schumann Street (Schumannstraße), the Deutsches Theater consists of two adjoining stages that share a common, classical facade. The main stage was built in 1850, originally for operettas. Klabund
Alfred Henschke (4 November 1890 – 14 August 1928), better known by his pseudonym Klabund, was a German writer. Life Klabund, born Alfred Henschke in 1890 in Krosno Odrzańskie, Crossen, was the son of an apothecary. At the age of 16 he came down with tuberculosis, which the doctors initially misdiagnosed as pneumonia. The illness stayed with him for the rest of his short life. After completing his ''Abitur'' (upper secondary school leaving certificate) with the highest marks in 1909 in Frankfurt (Oder), he studied chemistry and pharmacology in Munich. He soon changed his plans, however, and studied philosophy, philology, and theater in Munich, Berlin, and Lausanne. He had already encountered Bohemianism in Munich through the theater scholar Artur Kutscher, and through others he was introduced to Frank Wedekind.
