Lote, Norway
Lote is a village in the municipality of Stad in Vestland county, Norway. The population of Lote (2001) was 132. The village is located about southeast of the village of Nordfjordeid and about northwest of the village of Sandane in Gloppen Municipality. The Lote Tunnel is a tunnel along the European route E39 that goes through a mountain north of Lote. The tunnel connects Lote with the rest of Stad municipality. History Starting in 1838, Lote was administratively a part of the municipality of Gloppen, despite being separated from the rest of Gloppen by the Nordfjorden. On 1 January 1992, the Lote area was transferred to the municipality of Eid (now Stad Municipality). At that time Lote had 158 inhabitants. Denis Kiwanuka Lote (25 March 1938 – 24 April 2022) was a Ugandan Catholic prelate who served as Archbishop of Tororo from 27 June 2007 until 2 January 2014. He previously served as Bishop of Kotido from 20 May 1991 until 27 June 2007. Ethel Lote
Ethel Lote (née Nutting; 28 November 1920 – 11 June 2024) was a British World War II nurse and yoga instructor. After the war, she became a dental nurse and founded the Dental Nurses Society. Early life Ethel Nutting was born on 28 November 1920 in Walsall Wood, Staffordshire. Her father was a coal miner while her mother was a music teacher. Lote had always aspired to be a nurse, inspired by her mother, Ellen Cross, who served as a nurse in London during World War I. She joined St John Ambulance (England), St John Ambulance while she was still at school as well as working as a first aider at the local Crabtree Electric Company, Crabtree electrical factory on Saturdays. She left school aged 14 to work in a leather factory. When she was 17, Lote became a probationary nurse. Lote Raikabula (born 31 July 1983 in Suva, Fiji) is a New Zealand rugby player who has played both rugby union and rugby sevens. He used to play for the All Blacks Sevens team in the IRB Sevens World Series and is the Rugby coach for Nagato Blue Angels, Japan. Lote Daulako Tuqiri (born 23 September 1979) is a former professional dual-code rugby footballer who primarily played as a winger across both codes. He represented Australia in both rugby league and rugby union, and Fiji in rugby league. Tuqiri first rose to prominence as a professional rugby league footballer for the Brisbane Broncos and Queensland Maroons, as well as the Fiji and Australia national sides.
