Lostprophets
Lostprophets (stylised as lostprophets or LOSTPROPHETS) were a Welsh rock band from Pontypridd, formed in 1997 by singer Ian Watkins and guitarist Lee Gaze. The group was founded after their former band Fleshbind broke up. They later recruited Mike Lewis on guitars, Stuart Richardson on bass and Mike Chiplin on drums. Lostprophets released five studio albums: '' The Fake Sound of Progress'' (2000), '' Start Something'' (2004), '' Liberation Transmission'' (2006), '' The Betrayed'' (2010), and ''Weapons'' (2012). They sold 3.5 million albums worldwide, achieving two top-ten singles on the UK Singles Chart (" Last Train Home" and " Rooftops"), a No. 1 single on the US Alternative Songs chart ("Last Train Home"), and several ''Kerrang!'' Awards and nominations. In December 2012, Watkins was charged with multiple sexual offences against children, infants and animals. Start Something
''Start Something'' is the second studio album by the Welsh Rock music, rock band Lostprophets, released on 2 February 2004 through Visible Noise in the United Kingdom and South Korea. The album was released internationally on 5 February 2004 through Columbia Records, Columbia. The band began work on the album in 2003 after touring for support of their previous album, ''The Fake Sound of Progress''. This is the second and last album featuring the original drummer Mike Chiplin. ''Start Something'' was both a critical and commercial success, quickly becoming the band's most successful album. It peaked at number 33 on the Billboard 200, ''Billboard'' 200 in the United States, and was eventually certified Gold by the RIAA. Weapons (album)
''Weapons'' is the fifth and final studio album by the Welsh rock band Lostprophets. It was released through Epic Records on 2 April 2012. It was the first and only record featuring Luke Johnson on drums, after being with two other drummers previously, Mike Chiplin and Ilan Rubin (the latter of whom features in archive recordings included on the "deluxe edition" of ''Weapons'', as well as the hidden track "Weapon" on all versions of the album). This was also the last album to ever be released by the band before lead vocalist Ian Watkins was convicted and imprisoned for numerous sex offences, which led to their disbandment. Like the earlier '' Liberation Transmission'', it features Latin on the front, which reads ''deus velox nex''. When translated it reads ''God is swift death''. Ian Watkins (Lostprophets Singer)
Ian David Karslake Watkins (born 30 July 1977) is a Welsh former singer who was best known as the lead singer and frontman of the rock band Lostprophets. His career ended after he was sentenced to 29 years imprisonment in 2013 for multiple sex offences, including the sexual assault of young children and infants, and the possession of "extreme" child and animal pornographic material, a sentence later increased by ten months for having a mobile phone in prison. His bandmates disbanded Lostprophets shortly after his conviction and formed No Devotion with American singer Geoff Rickly. The Betrayed (Lostprophets Album)
''The Betrayed'' is the fourth studio album by Welsh rock band Lostprophets, released through Visible Noise and Sony Music on 13 January 2010. Although the band initially wished to record a quick follow-up to 2006's '' Liberation Transmission'', problems with labels and producers led to numerous delays. Consequently, tracks from the album were performed live as early as 2007, but recording was not completed until July 2009, following an entire album's worth of material being scrapped by the band. The singles include: " It's Not the End of the World, But I Can See It from Here", " Where We Belong" and " For He's a Jolly Good Felon". "A Better Nothing" was set to be the fourth single, but it was cancelled due to the poor charting of "For He's a Jolly Good Felon". Liberation Transmission
''Liberation Transmission'' is the third studio album by Welsh rock band Lostprophets, released on 26 June 2006 by Visible Noise. Recording This is the first Lostprophets album recorded without original drummer Mike Chiplin. Josh Freese drummed at the request of Bob Rock, but the band's first choice was Travis Barker. Ilan Rubin also played drums for the songs "Everybody's Screaming!!!" and "For All These Times Son, for All These Times". Release "Rooftops (A Liberation Broadcast)" was released to American radio on 16 May 2006. On 13 June, "For All These Times Son, For All These Times" was made available for streaming via the band's Myspace profile. On 25 June, the album was made available for streaming via ''Alternative Press'', and was a day later through Columbia. ''The Fake Sound of Progress'' (stylized as ''thefakesoundofprogress'') is the debut studio album by the Welsh rock band Lostprophets, originally released on 27 November 2000 through Visible Noise. The album would be released in 2001 by Columbia Records and was met with stronger sales numbers around the world. This is the only album to feature DJ Stepzak although he was only in the original version, and the first album to have Jamie Oliver although he was only in the remastered version. The album peaked at number 186 on the ''Billboard'' 200, selling over 120,000 copies in the United States alone, and reached high positions on charts worldwide. No Devotion
No Devotion are a Welsh rock band formed in Pontypridd and Cardiff in 2014. The group is currently composed of American vocalist Geoff Rickly of the band Thursday, along with Stu Richardson and Lee Gaze, former members of the Welsh band Lostprophets. The band's debut album '' Permanence'', produced by Dave Fridmann, was released in 2015 and was supported by four singles: "Stay", " 10,000 Summers", "Addition", and "Permanent Sunlight". Drummer Luke Johnson's departure was announced in early 2015, with former Bloc Party drummer Matt Tong recording the rest of the drums for the album. While the band was mostly inactive beginning in 2016, a second album, '' No Oblivion'', was announced in 2022 after being discussed for years. Stuart Richardson
Stuart Richardson (born 15 August 1973) is a Welsh musician. He is the bassist for the rock band No Devotion, formed by former members of Lostprophets with Geoff Rickly of Thursday. He is also the touring bassist for Thursday. Career Richardson is an only child. His mother worked in a butchers shop, bar and doctors office, and his dad was a miner. Richardson has said that one of his earliest musical obsessions was David Bowie. He was inspired to learn to play bass by Steve Harris of Iron Maiden. Richardson's career in the music industry started off in the mid 1990s, working as a producer in his local area in Wales. By the late 1990s he was working as an engineer at Front Line Studios in Caerphilly, which is where he first met the other members of Lostprophets. "Rooftops (A Liberation Broadcast)" is a power ballad by Welsh rock band Lostprophets. It was released as the lead single to the band's third album '' Liberation Transmission'', first to American radio on 16 May 2006 and then as a physical single on 19 June 2006, preceding the album's release by a week. The song debuted at No. 8 on the UK singles chart, tying " Last Train Home" for the band's highest-peaking song. It was nominated for the Kerrang! Award for Best Single. In the United States, it peaked at No. 15 on the Alternative Airplay chart. Ilan Rubin
Ilan Rubin (born July 7, 1988) is an American musician, producer, songwriter, composer, and artist. He is known primarily for playing drums with bands such as Nine Inch Nails, Paramore, Lostprophets, Angels & Airwaves and Danny Elfman. In 2008, he formed The New Regime, where he sings and plays all instruments in the studio and plays guitar with a band for live performances. In 2021, Ilan released music for the first time under his name. His debut single "Talk Talk Talk" was remixed by Phantogram. As a member of Nine Inch Nails, in 2020, Rubin was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as the youngest living inductee in its history. Mike Lewis (musician)
Michael Richard Lewis (born 17 August 1977) is a Welsh musician. He is best known as the former rhythm guitarist for the Welsh alternative rock band Lostprophets, Welsh/American alternative rock band No Devotion and hardcore punk band Public Disturbance. Early life Lewis studied civil engineering for a year before turning to music. His mother was a shop assistant, and his father worked in management for a chemical company. Lewis attended Hawthorn High School in Pontypridd. His favourite subjects were Science and History. His first concert, as a concertgoer, came when he saw Tesla at St David's Hall. Career Before Lostprophets formed, Lewis was in a band called Public Disturbance.
