Lord Herbert Vane-Tempest
Lord Herbert Lionel Henry Vane-Tempest (6 July 1862 – 26 January 1921) was a British company director. He was a director of the Cambrian Railways and died in the Abermule train collision in January 1921. Life Lord Herbert was born into, on his father's side, an aristocratic family of partial Ulster-Scots people, Ulster-Scots descent, being the son of the George Vane-Tempest, 5th Marquess of Londonderry, 5th Marquess of Londonderry and his wife, Mary Cornelia Edwards, and brother of the Charles Vane-Tempest-Stewart, 6th Marquess of Londonderry, 6th Marquess of Londonderry. He was born on 6 July 1862. Lord Herbert was a Justice of the Peace of both Montgomeryshire and Merionethshire. He was awarded the Volunteer Officers' Decoration and was appointed Knight Commander, Royal Victorian Order. Mawddwy Railway
The Mawddwy Railway was a rural line in the Dyfi Valley in mid-Wales that connected Dinas Mawddwy with a junction at railway station on the Newtown and Machynlleth Railway section of the Cambrian Railways. Despite being only 6 miles 63 chains (10.9 km) long, there were three intermediate stations at Cemmaes, Aberangell (where it linked to the Hendre-Ddu Tramway) and Mallwyd. Frances Anne Vane, Marchioness of Londonderry (17 January 1800 – 20 January 1865) was an Anglo-Irish heiress and noblewoman. She was the daughter of Sir Henry Vane-Tempest, 2nd Baronet. She married Charles Vane, 3rd Marquess of Londonderry, Charles William Stewart, 1st Baron Stewart. She became a marchioness in 1822 when Charles succeeded his half-brother as 3rd Marquess of Londonderry. Life Frances Anne was the only child of Sir Henry Vane-Tempest, 2nd Baronet, and his wife Anne MacDonnell, 2nd Countess of Antrim, Anne MacDonnell, 2nd Earl of Antrim, Countess of Antrim.
