Loop 323 is a state highway loop in Texas in the United States. It is a highway circling the city of Tyler in Smith County. History On November 20, 1951, Farm to Market Road 1803 (FM 1803) was established as a bypass from US 271 northeast of Tyler, to SH 64 east of Tyler. On October 29, 1953, FM 845, was created as another bypass around the north side of Tyler, covering from SH 31 to US 271 and the northern end of FM 1803. On October 26, 1954, the route of FM 845 was extended (but apparently not constructed) about south and east around Tyler and then northward to intersect with the southern terminus of FM 1803. On December 3, 1954, FM 845 was merged into FM 1803, so that the route, once completely constructed, would have a single highway designation. On October 30, 1957, with its southern portion now under construction, FM 1803 was redesignated as Loop 323. Texas State Highway Loop 49
Loop 49 (also called Toll 49) is a currently circular freeway that, along with I-20, will encircle the city of Tyler and serve other various communities in Northeast Texas upon its completion. Routing of the loop north of I-20 bypasses Lindale to the west and passes by the west and south sides of Tyler south of I-20. The highway interconnects suburban areas and areas of potential development around Tyler with I-20 and provides local areas easier access to the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. Currently, the route exists as an undivided two-lane highway stretching from US 69 near Lindale to SH 110 near Whitehouse. According to TxDOT, costs have exceeded $176 million, and the projected total cost for the completion of the route as a divided four-lane highway is still unknown. State Highway 31 (SH 31) runs from U.S. 84 northeast of Waco via Corsicana, Athens, Tyler, Kilgore to U.S. 80 in Longview. History SH 31 was a route proposed on October 9, 1917 to run from Waco northeast via Corsicana and Athens to Tyler, which remains the western portion of its current route to this day. On November 27, 1922, the route had been extended northeast to Gladewater, replacing part of SH 15 so that SH 15 had only one route west of Gladewater.
