Lonsdale Quay (TransLink)
Lonsdale Quay is a SeaBus ferry terminal and major transit exchange in the City of North Vancouver, and serves Metro Vancouver's North Shore municipalities. Located at the waterfront of the Lower Lonsdale neighbourhood, the transit hub is within short distance from the BCIT Marine Campus and Lonsdale Quay Market. History Lonsdale Quay opened in 1977 when the SeaBus service began between the quay and Waterfront station in Downtown Vancouver. Prior to the construction of the ferry terminal, the quay was the location of the North Van Ship Repair dock. In 2016, it was announced that Lonsdale Quay, along with the Waterfront SeaBus terminal, would receive a $12.5 million upgrade. Construction was originally expected to begin in 2017 and to be completed by mid-2018; however, the project timeline was pushed back. Burrard Inlet
Burrard Inlet () is a shallow-sided fjord in the northwestern Lower Mainland, British Columbia, Canada. Formed during the last Ice Age, it separates the City of Vancouver and the rest of the lowland Burrard Peninsula to the south from the coastal slopes of the North Shore Mountains, which span West Vancouver and the City and District of North Vancouver to the north. Burrard Inlet opens west into the Strait of Georgia between Point Atkinson and Point Grey. Bodwell High School is a private co-educational boarding school offering grades 8 to 12, and university preparation, in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Upper Lonsdale
Upper Lonsdale is a suburban area in both the City and District of North Vancouver. This area runs north of Highway 1 (around 24th Street) to the corner of Lonsdale and Rockland (where Lonsdale Avenue comes to an end). The first 5 blocks up Lonsdale Avenue (from 25th Street to 29th Street) are part of the City of North Vancouver, while the remaining blocks (29th Street to Rockland) belong to the District of North Vancouver. Upper Lonsdale is the more residential part of Lonsdale Avenue, although it does have a couple of blocks of shops and services (all of which run from 29th Street up to Kings Road—only two blocks). The peak of Lonsdale Avenue (where it meets Rockland) sits at an elevation of 850 feet above sea level whereas Lower Lonsdale (a mere 5 minute drive south) sits at sea level at some points. Phibbs Exchange
Phibbs Exchange is a major transit exchange in the District of North Vancouver, British Columbia. Part of the TransLink system, it is home to routes serving the North Shore and provides connections to the cities of Vancouver and Burnaby. Opened on October 19, 1973, it is one of the four major transit exchanges on the North Shore (the others being Capilano University Exchange, Lonsdale Quay and Park Royal Exchange). The exchange is named after Charles J.P. Phibbs. Structure and location Phibbs Exchange is located directly next to the northern foot of the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge, which connects North Vancouver to East Vancouver and Burnaby. RapidBus is an express bus network with bus rapid transit elements in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. History On November 23, 2016, the Mayors' Council and TransLink's board of directors approved the first phase of the 10-Year Vision, which included provisions for new B-Line routes (later rebranded as RapidBus) which began service in January 2020. Grouse Mountain
Grouse Mountain is one of the North Shore Mountains of the Pacific Ranges in the District Municipality of North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. With a maximum elevation of over 1,200 m (4,100 ft) at its peak, the mountain is the site of an alpine ski area, Grouse Mountain Resort, which overlooks Metro Vancouver and has four chairlifts servicing 33 runs.
