Longquan Mountains
The Longquan Mountains () are a low-lying range of mountains in Sichuan, China. The mountains are long, on average wide, and form a ridge-like barrier between the Chengdu Plain and the rest of the Sichuan Basin. They range from Deyang in the north to Leshan in the south. The highest point of the range is Ximei Mountain (西眉山) at in Zhongjiang County. The Longquan are bisected by the Tuo River in the north that forms a -deep gorge through the mountains. The Longquan Mountains are the westernmost detachment fold in the Sichuan Basin. The other detachment folds the region are found in the east of the basin, so the Longquan stand out relative to the alluvial Chengdu Plain in the west and the Sichuan Basin's rolling hills to the east. Longquanyi District
Longquanyi District () is a suburban district of the City of Chengdu, Sichuan, China. Longquan District covers parts of the southeastern suburbs. In 1960, with the approval of the State Council, Chengdu Longquan Station District was officially established. In 2000, Longquanyi District was approved as a national economic and technological development zone, becoming an important economic center in the east of Chengdu. The population is over half a million. It borders the prefecture-level city of Ziyang to the southeast. Longquanyi has been designated as a high-tech development district, with investment mainly focused in the urban areas. Many hillsides that have been used to farm will be converted by the local government to forest areas, as the district finds tourism more profitable than trying to grow crops on mountainsides. Tuo River
The Tuo River () is -long river in Sichuan province of southern China. The Tuo River is one of the major tributaries of the upper Yangtze River (''Chang Jiang''). Chengdu–Chongqing Railway
Chengdu–Chongqing railway or Chengyu railway ( zh, s=成渝铁路, t=成渝鐵路, p=chéngyú tiělù), is a single-track electrified railroad in the Sichuan Basin of Southwest China between the cities Chengdu and Chongqing. Chongqing's short form name is Yu (渝) and the railway is named after the two cities. The line has a total length of . The Chengyu railway opened in 1952 and was the first railway to be built after the founding of the People's Republic of China. Longmenshan Fault
The Longmenshan Fault () is a thrust fault which runs along the base of the Longmen Mountains in Sichuan province in southwestern China. The strike of the fault plane is approximately NE. Motion on this fault is responsible for the uplift of the mountains relative to the lowlands of the Sichuan Basin to the east. Representing the eastern boundary of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, it is a border formation between the Bayan Kola block in the Plateau and the South China block in the Eurasian plate. The 2008 Wenchuan, 2013 Lushan and 2022 Ya'an earthquakes occurred along this fault. Detachment Fold
A detachment fold, in geology, occurs as layer parallel thrusting along a decollement (or detachment) develops without upward propagation of a fault; the accommodation of the strain produced by continued displacement along the underlying thrust results in the folding of the overlying rock units. As a visual aid, picture a rug on the floor.
