Longlands
Longlands is an area of South East London overlapping the London Boroughs of Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich. It lies north west of Sidcup and south east of Eltham. Some old maps and records have the name as two words "Long Lands", and show it was in the Foots Cray/Sidcup parish in the Hundred of Ruxley. Found within Longlands On Main Road there are a small number of shops including: two showrooms, which are Peugeot and Kia showrooms, an off license/ convenience store, a fish and chip shop, a restaurant, a launderette and a small post office. Shops here seem to be somewhat over shadowed by nearby larger towns, New Eltham and especially Sidcup. Within Longlands the place gives it name to Longlands Recreation Ground, Longlands Primary School, Longlands Road and Longlands Park Crescent. Sidcup
Sidcup is an area of south-east London, England, primarily in the London Borough of Bexley. It is south-east of Charing Cross, bordering the London Boroughs of Bromley and Greenwich. Before the creation of Greater London in 1965, it was in the historical county of Kent. The name is thought to be derived from meaning "seat shaped or flat topped hill"; it had its earliest recorded use in 1254. The population of Sidcup, including its neighbourhoods Foots Cray, North Cray, Albany Park, Longlands, Ruxley, Blackfen and Lamorbey, was 43,109 in 2011. Old Bexley and Sidcup is a constituency created in 1983 and represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament represented since 2021 by Louie French of the Conservative Party. History and profile The seat was created in 1983 by combining a small part of the abolished seat of Bexleyheath, chiefly Old Bexley, with the abolished seat of Sidcup. River Shuttle
The River Shuttle is a small tributary of the River Cray in London, United Kingdom. The river rises at two or more springs between Avery Hill and Eltham in the Royal Borough of Greenwich at the junction of the permeable Blackheath Beds and the denser Woolwich Beds. It flows east through the parkland of Avery Hill, then crosses into the London Borough of Bexley and continues through Parish Wood Park and Hollyoak Wood Park, Willersley Park, Marlborough Park and Sidcup Golf Course, where it feeds a lake in the grounds of Lamorbey Mansion (c. 1750) a house now within the Rose Bruford College campus. Lamorbey
Lamorbey is a district of South East London in the London Borough of Bexley, located north of Sidcup. It borders the Royal Borough of Greenwich. Significant buildings in the area are Holy Trinity Church, Lamorbey House and some of the original surviving buildings of The Hollies children's home (now converted to residential use). The oldest house in Sidcup, dating from 1452, can also be found in the district.
