Longaberger Basket Company
The Longaberger Company was an American manufacturer and distributor of handcrafted maple wood baskets and other home and lifestyle products. The company opened in 1973, and its Basket weaving, handcrafted baskets were a popular home decor item in the 1980s and 1990s. Founded by Dave Longaberger, the Family business, family-owned and family-operated company used multi-level marketing to sell its products. It was one of the primary employers in Dresden, Ohio, before it moved in 1997 to Newark, Ohio. At its peak in 2000, it had U.S. Dollars, $1 billion in sales, employed more than 8,200 people directly, and had about 45,000 independent distributors (called Home Consultants) selling its products directly to customers. Frazeysburg is a village in Muskingum County, Ohio, United States, along Wakatomika Creek. The population was 1,354 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Zanesville micropolitan area. Frazeysburg is home to the world's largest apple basket, which is located on the Longaberger homestead. The ''Zanesville Times Recorder'' is a daily newspaper based in Zanesville, Ohio, that serves Muskingum County. The newspaper is part of the USA Today Network. History On December 1, 1959, The Zanesville Times Recorder began printing 7-days a week, merging with The Zanesville Times Signal.
