Long Good Thursday
Long Good Thursday (, literally ''The Grump's Love Story'') is a 2024 Finnish comedy film directed by Mika Kaurismäki. The film is based on Tuomas Kyrö's novel of the same name and was adapted for the screen by Sami Keski-Vähälä. Filming began in September 2023, taking place in the Helsinki metropolitan area and Uusimaa region. Heikki Kinnunen reprised his role as the Grump, while Jaana Saarinen portrayed Saimi, the object of his affection. The film is the fourth installment in The Grump film series and the second directed by Mika Kaurismäki. Mika Kaurismäki
Mika Juhani Kaurismäki (; born 21 September 1955) is a Finnish film director. Early life and education Mika Kaurismäki was born in Orimattila. He is the elder brother of Aki Kaurismäki. After high school, Kaurismäki worked as a painter of houses and apartments in the small town of Kuusankoski in the southeastern part of Finland. In the autumn of 1976, when the winter was coming and the annual high season for painting houses was over, he thought of doing something else in life. Still wearing his painter overalls, he walked into a bookstore and bought the newly published ''History of Cinema'' by Peter von Bagh. He started reading it from page one and decided to become a film director. Kaurismäki studied cinema in Munich, Germany, at the Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen (1977–1981). 4 (four) is a number, numeral and digit. It is the natural number following 3 and preceding 5. It is a square number, the smallest semiprime and composite number, and is considered unlucky in many East Asian cultures. ''The Grump'' () is a 2014 Finnish comedy film directed by Dome Karukoski, in which the main character is The Grump, a cranky old man, created by the Finnish author Tuomas Kyrö. ''The Grump'' was selected to compete for the Contemporary World Cinema section at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival. Tuomas Kyrö
Tuomas Kyrö (born June 4, 1974, in Helsinki) is a Finnish author and cartoonist. He has written novels, Column (newspaper), columns, causeries and plays and drawn comics and cartoons. Kyrö has received a prize from the Kalevi Jäntti Foundation in 2005 and the Young Aleksis Prize in 2006. His novel ''Liitto'' was a candidate for the Finlandia Prize in literature in 2005. The Finnish Sports Museum Foundation chose the book ''Urheilukirja'' (‘Sports Book’) as the Sports Book of the Year in 2011. Kyrö's book ''Mielensäpahoittaja'' (‘The Man Who Gets Upset About Things’) appeared in 2010, and it was based on the radio drama series with the same title, broadcast by YLE in Radio Suomi, in which Antti Litja played the key character.
