Lois Auta
Lois Auta (born 29 April 1980) is the founder and chief executive officer at the Cedar Seed Foundation, an organization that promotes the participation of women with disabilities into human rights based development in Nigeria. She focuses on inclusive legislation for people with disabilities. In 2019, Auta ran for the Federal Capital Territory's AMAC (Abuja Municipal Area Council)/Bwari National Assembly seat in order to represent the Kaura Constituency with her "EQUAL AGENDA." Early life Auta was born in Jos Plateau, Plateau State, Nigeria, on 29 April 1980 into the Auta Akok family of Kukum Gida Kagoro, Education As a child, Auta contracted polio and was confined to a wheelchair. Jos, Nigeria
Jos is a city in the north central region of Nigeria. The city has a population of about 900,000 residents based on the 2006 census. Popularly called "J-Town", it is the administrative capital and largest city of Plateau State. Federal Capital Territory (Nigeria)
The Federal Capital Territory, commonly known as the FCT, is a federal territory in central Nigeria. Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria, is located in this territory. The FCT was formed in 1976 from parts of the states of old Kaduna, Kwara, Niger, and Plateau states, with the bulk of land mass carved out of Niger state. The Federal Capital Territory is within the North Central region of the country. Unlike other states of Nigeria, which are headed by elected Governors, it is administered by the Federal Capital Territory Administration, headed by a minister, who is appointed by the President. The Jos Plateau is a plateau located near the centre of Nigeria. The plateau has given its name to the Plateau State in which it is found and is named for the state's capital, Jos. The plateau is home to people of diverse cultures and languages. The plateau's montane grasslands, savannas, and forests are home to communities of plants and animals distinct from those of the surrounding lowlands and constitute the Jos Plateau forest-savanna mosaic ecoregion. Poliomyelitis, commonly shortened to polio, is an infectious disease caused by the poliovirus. The University of Abuja is a tertiary institution in the Nigerian capital, Abuja. It was established in January 1988 (under Decree No. 110 of 1992 as amended) as a dual-mode university with the mandate to run conventional and distance learning programmes. Young African Leaders Initiative
The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) is an initiative of the United States Department of State. It was begun in 2010 by President Barack Obama. YALI is a programme aimed at educating and networking young African leaders with activities including the Mandela Washington Fellowship that brings them to study in the United States for six weeks, with follow-up resources, and student exchange programs. In 2014, the program was expanded to include four regional "leadership centers" in Ghana, Kenya, Senegal and South Africa. 500 participants in the Mandela Washington Fellowship arrived in the United States on June 16, 2014.
