Cape Lockyer
Cape Lockyer () is a steep rock headland northeast of Lambeth Bluff on the southeast side of Heard Island. It was surveyed in 1948 by Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions and named by them for Lieutenant H.C.J. Lockyer Valley Region
The Lockyer Valley Region is a local government area (LGA) in the West Moreton region of South East Queensland, Australia. The region is located between the cities of Ipswich and Toowoomba, and is bordered by the Somerset and Southern Downs regions to the north and south, respectively. Lockyer Valley was created in 2008 from a merger of the former shires of Gatton and Laidley. The Lockyer Valley Regional Council has an estimated operating budget of A$35m. The region is named after the British soldier and explorer Major Edmund Lockyer (1784-1860) who surveyed the Brisbane River for approximately 150 miles on the instructions of the Governor of the Colony of New South Wales, Sir Thomas Brisbane. Prior to European settlement, the Lockyer Valley region was home to the Kitabul Aboriginal people. Lockyer is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. The district consists primarily of Gatton and Laidley Shires and the northern parts of Beaudesert Shire. It includes the major town of Gatton and a number of smaller centres including Laidley, Helidon and Withcott. The eastern parts of the district are part of the outer southern suburbs of Ipswich and Brisbane in the area of Greenmount. Lockyer National Park
Lockyer National Park is a national park in north of the Lockyer Valley Region in South East Queensland, Australia. The landscape is dominated by the foothills of the Great Dividing Range and features sandstone gorges and eucalypt forest. There are four separate sections which form the Lockyer National Park. Alice Creek, Redbank Creek and Fifteen Mile Creek, all tributaries of Lockyer Creek, lie within the park. The park covers 11,079 ha with another 7,790 ha designated for recovery. The park is home to significant plant and animal species such as the helidon ironbark, mountain guinea flower, brush-tailed rock-wallaby and black-breasted buttonquail. The James Ross Island group () is a group of islands located close to the northeastern tip of the Antarctic Peninsula. The largest islands in the group are James Ross Island, Snow Hill Island, Vega Island, and Seymour Island. The islands lie to the south of the Joinville Island group.
