LOCAL TV Teesside (formerly known as TalkTeesside) is a local television station serving Middlesbrough and Teesside and parts of County Durham and North Yorkshire. The station is owned and operated by Local Television Limited and forms part of a group of eight Local TV stations. This station broadcasts on Freeview on channel 7 from the Bilsdale transmitter. History In November 2013, the broadcast regulator OFCOM announced Made Television and Trinity Mirror had been awarded a licence to run a local TV service for the Middlesbrough and Teesside areas. The licence had also been contested by a locally based group known as ''TeesVision''. Made in Teesside began broadcasting on Freeview and Virgin Media platforms at 6 pm on Thursday 30 March 2017. The station is run jointly with its sister Tyne and Wear station from studios at the University of Sunderland with production staff also based locally in Middlesbrough. Local TV (formerly Made Television) is a Local television in the United Kingdom, local television network in the United Kingdom, operating nine channels serving the Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Leeds, London, United Kingdom, London, Liverpool, North Wales, Teesside and Tyne and Wear areas. Local television in the United Kingdom, described in legislation as Local Digital Television Programme Services (L-DTPS), provides a television station for a specific local area. Successful applicants are awarded a sole licence for their chosen area, and are expected to locate their studios within the same area. They broadcast on the digital terrestrial (DTT) system, as used by the national Freeview service. The independent regulator, Ofcom, invites applications in all areas where transmission is technically possible, and assesses proposals against the statutory criteria. Availability The multiplexes carrying the stations are operated by Comux, owned by the local TV broadcasters, with operations run by Canis Media. CBS Reality is a European pay television channel specializing in reality-based programming, including true crime documentaries and factual entertainment. It is operated by AMC Networks International in partnership with Paramount Networks EMEAA. The channel was launched on 1 December 1999 as Reality TV, rebranded to Zone Reality in 2006, and adopted the CBS Reality name in 2009 following a joint venture between CBS Studios International and Chellomedia. Bilsdale Transmitting Station
The Bilsdale transmitting station is a broadcasting and telecommunications facility, located at Bilsdale West Moor above Bilsdale, close to Helmsley, North Yorkshire, England. The original facility included a Radio masts and towers#Tubular steel, guyed steel tubular mast that was primarily used for radio and television transmission. The height of the mast was to the pinnacle. Until a fire disabled the transmitter on 10 August 2021 it was among the most powerful transmitters in the UK. The power for analogue was 500 kW effective radiated power, ERP and it was 100 kW / 50 kW for digital. The mast was equipped with aircraft warning lights, in the form of arrays of red Light-emitting diode, LEDs. The station was owned and operated by Arqiva.
