Lobocla
''Lobocla'' is a genus of skippers in the family Hesperiidae subfamily Eudaminae, within which they are placed in subtribe Loboclina. Unlike the rest of the Eudaminae, which have a New World distribution, the genus is endemic to Asia. Species Li et al. 2019 gives the following species and subspecies for this genus: *''Lobocla aborica'' (Tytler, 1915) – India **''Lobocla aborica aborica'' (Tytler, 1915) **''Lobocla aborica zesta'' Evans, 1949 **''Lobocla aborica tonka'' Evans, 1949 *''Lobocla bifasciatus'' (Bremer & Grey, 1853) – Indochina, China, Korea, Ussuri. *''Lobocla contractus'' (Leech, 1894) – China *''Lobocla disparalis'' Murayama, 1995 *''Lobocla germanus'' (Oberthür, 1886) – China *''Lobocla liliana'' (Atkinson, 1871) – type species **''Lobocla liliana ignatius'' (Plötz, 1882) **''Lobocla liliana liliana'' (Atkinson, 1871) *''Lobocla nepos'' (Oberthür, 1886) – western China **''Lobocla nepos nepos'' (Oberthür, 1886) **''Lobocla nepos phyllis'' (Hemming, ... Lobocla Bifasciatus
'' Lobocla bifasciatus'' is a small butterfly found in the east Palearctic (Indochina - China - Korea, Ussuri) that belongs to the skippers family (Hesperiidae). The species was first described by Otto Vasilievich Bremer Otto Vasilievich Bremer (died 11 November 1873) was a Russian naturalist and entomologist. He wrote: *''Beiträge zur Schmetterlings-fauna des Nödrlichen China's'' (1853) with Vasilii Fomich Grey (William Grey). *"Neue Lepidopteren aus Ost-Sibir ... and William Grey in 1853. Description from Seitz ''L. bifasciata'' Brem. (84 b). Wings dull greyish black. The forewing with a transparent white band composed of five spots, which are separated by the veins; it ends before vein 1. Eudaminae
The Eudaminae are a subfamily of skipper butterflies ( family Hesperiidae). Their original type genus ''Eudamus'' is today a junior synonym of '' Urbanus''. They are largely found in the Neotropics, with some extending into temperate North America, and one genus, ''Lobocla'', endemic to East Asia. (2009): Tree of Life Web Project &ndashEudaminae Version of 2009-JUN-11. Retrieved 2009-DEC-24. Taxonomy The Eudaminae have been recent subject to significant taxonomic revisions based on genome analysis, including by Brower & Warren 2009, and Li et al. 2019. Historically, the subfamily has been included as tribe Eudamini in subfamily Pyrginae, based on perceived similarities with two of the tribes in that subfamily, the Celaenorrhinini and Pyrgini. As of Li et al. 2019, the Eudaminae are divided into four tribes: Entheini, Phocidini, Eudamini and Oileidini. Current status and subdivisions Except where otherwise noted, the classification below follows Li et al., 2019: Tribe En ... Consortium For The Barcode Of Life
The Consortium for the Barcode of Life (CBOL) was an international initiative dedicated to supporting the development of DNA barcoding as a global standard for species identification. CBOL's Secretariat Office is hosted by the National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, in Washington, DC. Barcoding was proposed in 2003 by Prof. Paul Hebert of the University of Guelph in Ontario as a way of distinguishing and identifying species with a short standardized gene sequence. Hebert proposed the 658 bases of the Folmer region of the mitochondrial gene cytochrome-C oxidase-1 as the standard barcode region. Hebert is the Director of the Biodiversity Institute of Ontario, the Canadian Centre for DNA Barcoding, and the International Barcode of Life Project (iBOL), all headquartered at the University of Guelph. The Barcode of Life Data Systems (BOLD) is also located at the University of Guelph. CBOL was created in May 2004 with support of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation ...
