Lloyd Fields
Lloyd L. Fields (born September 10, 1957) is an American politician who was Oklahoma Labor Commissioner, Oklahoma Commissioner of Labor from 2007 to 2011. A Democratic Party (United States), Democrat, he was elected in 2006, receiving 456,373 votes, a narrow margin of 50.15%. He defeated 12-year incumbent Republican Brenda Reneau, who received 49.85%, or 453,645 votes, after having lost to her in the 2002 election. Fields was defeated for reelection to a second term by Republican Mark Costello (Oklahoma politician), Mark Costello in the 2010 election. Controversy Alleged theft and intoxication In February 2008, Fields asked "for forgiveness" from the people of Oklahoma for allegedly stealing a guitar from a professional bull rider while intoxicated at a rodeo. He was later taken into police custody and spent the night at a Public Inebriate Alternative Center just north of Bricktown. He was not arrested or charged, however. Oklahoma Labor Commissioner
The Oklahoma Commissioner of Labor is an elective executive officer of the State of Oklahoma. The Labor Commissioner serves as the head of the Oklahoma Department of Labor. The Labor Commissioner is responsible for supervising the administration of all state laws relating to labor and workplace safety and gathers and publishes information about the workforce of Oklahoma. Until his death in August, 2015, the Labor Commissioner was Mark Costello, a Republican, who defeated the incumbent Lloyd Fields, a Democrat in the November 2010 election. Brenda Reneau
Brenda Reneau (January 4, 1954 – December 5, 2013) was an American Republican Party politician from the U.S. state of Oklahoma. Reneau served as the Oklahoma Commissioner of Labor for three consecutive terms. First elected in 1994, she was the first woman to serve as Labor Commissioner. Reelected in 1998 and 2002, she narrowly lost her bid for another term in 2006 and her term ended in January 2007. Mark Costello (November 10, 1955 – August 23, 2015) was an American politician and businessman who served as Commissioner of Labor of Oklahoma from 2011 to 2015. A Republican, he was elected in 2010, defeating the Democratic incumbent, Lloyd Fields. Before his election he was a businessman who founded several technology companies. After taking office, he established a non-profit advocacy group to oppose the positions of public employee unions, and fought federal regulations on family farms.
