Llolleo (culture)
Llolleo, also known as Llo-Lleo, is a town in the commune of San Antonio Province, San Antonio in the Valparaíso Region, Region of Valparaiso, Chile. It is located 98 km from the capital Santiago and 4 km from the port of San Antonio. The Maipo River, which separates it from the Santo Domingo, Chile, Rocas de Santo Domingo, marks its southern boundary. Llolleo is also referred to as "La Boca" or "historic cove," where small-scale fishing for various seafood and fish is conducted. The name Llolleo originates from the Mapudungun word "Llollehue," meaning "fishing place." Maipo River
The Maipo River is the main river flowing through the Santiago Metropolitan Region and the Valparaíso Region of Chile. It is located just south of the capital of Santiago. The Mapocho River, which flows through central Santiago, is one of its tributaries. Its headwaters are on the west slope of Maipo volcano, in the Andes. The Maipo River is by far the major source of irrigation and potable water for the region. The river's mouth bar have moved to disconnect the river from the sea several times in history, for example, after the 2010 Chile earthquake and then again since January 19, 2023. This last change in bar morphology was a consequence of a storm surge. By January 28 a ditch had been made to reconnect the river to the sea. Santo Domingo is a Chilean coastal city and commune in San Antonio Province, Valparaíso Region. It was founded as Rocas de Santo Domingo (St. Dominic's Rocks). Demographics According to the 2002 census of the National Statistics Institute, Santo Domingo spans an area of and has 7,418 inhabitants (3,811 men and 3,607 women). Mapudungun
