Liverpool Shopping Park
Liverpool Shopping Park is an out of town retail park located in Edge Lane, Liverpool, England. It is the biggest retail park in Liverpool, overtaking the New Mersey Retail Park in Speke (), and has the world's largest Liver Bird at and made of Meccano. History Opened in 1991 as Edge Lane Retail Park, it had an MGM cinema, renamed Virgin in 1995, then UGC in 1999 then Cineworld in 2005. Comet, Land of Leather, JJB Sports, Carpet Right and Frankie and Benny's and Fatty Arbuckle's also operated. The site began redevelopment in the mid-2010s and Phase 1 of the new shopping park opened in November 2017. Albert Gubay
Albert Gubay, KC*SG (9 April 1928 – 5 January 2016) was a Welsh businessman and philanthropist, who made his fortune with the Kwik Save retail chain, building it further on investments, mainly in property development. According to ''Forbes'', in 2006 Gubay had an estimated fortune of approximately £500 million ( $1.1 billion), making him the 698th richest person in the world. Early life Gubay was born on 9 April 1928 in Rhyl, to an Iraqi Jewish father, and an Irish Roman Catholic mother, Mary Clarke. Gubay began his business career in North Wales selling non-sugar sweets during post-World War II confectionery rationing. When rationing came to an end in the mid-1950s, the confectionery business ran into difficulties and Gubay moved into retailing via market stalls. TK Maxx is a subsidiary of the American apparel and home goods company TJX Companies based in Framingham, Massachusetts.
