An album is a collection of audio recordings (e.g., music) issued on a medium such as compact disc (CD), vinyl (record), audio tape (like 8-track or cassette), or digital. Albums of recorded sound were developed in the early 20th century as individual 78 rpm records (78s) collected in a bound book resembling a photo album; this format evolved after 1948 into single vinyl long-playing (LP) records played at rpm. Collector's Guide Publishing
Collector's Guide Publishing (CGP) is a Canadian publisher based in Burlington, Ontario, Canada. History The company's first publication was Robert Godwin's Illustrated Collector's Guide to Led Zeppelin released in 1987. Owner Godwin also founded the independent record label Griffin Music in 1989. CGP would supply books for music collectors to the Griffin label for inclusion in box sets with accompanying compact discs. CD/Book packages included sets by Hawkwind, Motörhead, Wishbone Ash and Olivia Newton-John. In 1998 Godwin started an imprint called Apogee Books specifically for publishing space flight related books. This came about due to a request by Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin for Godwin to create a book to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the flight of Apollo 8. Corrosion is a natural process that converts a refined metal into a more chemically stable oxide. It is the gradual deterioration of materials (usually a metal) by chemical or electrochemical reaction with their environment. Corrosion engineering is the field dedicated to controlling and preventing corrosion. In the most common use of the word, this means electrochemical oxidation of metal in reaction with an oxidant such as oxygen, hydrogen, or hydroxide. Rusting, the formation of red-orange iron oxides, is a well-known example of electrochemical corrosion. Jimmy Bower
Jimmy Bower (born September 19, 1968) is an American musician, best known as drummer for southern metal supergroup Down and guitarist for sludge metal band Eyehategod. He has previously also played drums with Crowbar (with future Down bandmates Kirk Windstein and Todd Strange) and Corrosion of Conformity (with Down bandmate Pepper Keenan), and rhythm guitar in Superjoint (with Down bandmate Phil Anselmo). Career Bower was the drummer for a hardcore punk band called ShellShock in early 1988 when Kirk Windstein joined as guitarist/vocalist, replacing original vocalist Greg Hatch. Other members were guitarist Mike "Hatch Boy" Hatch and bassist Mike Savoie, although this band disbanded when Hatch committed suicide in November of that year. Mike Dean (musician)
Thomas Michael Dean (born August 24, 1963) is an American musician, best known as the former bassist and occasional vocalist of heavy metal band Corrosion of Conformity. He is also a member of Lightning Born, a four-piece out of Raleigh, North Carolina, formed in 2016. Career Dean sang on Corrosion of Conformity's early recordings from their crossover thrash era before leaving the band in 1987. In 1989, Dean, along with C.O.C. guitarist Woody Weatherman and Brian Walsby on drums, released the Snake Nation album via Caroline Records. Dean rejoined C.O.C. as the bassist and occasional vocalist in 1993 and remained with the band until 2024. From 2010 through 2020, the original lineup of Corrosion of Conformity consisting of Dean, Reed Mullin, and Woody Weatherman, were again performing and recording as a three-piece, until Mullin's death in 2020. Pepper Keenan
Pepper J. Keenan (born May 8, 1967) is an American guitarist and vocalist, best known for his work with heavy metal bands Corrosion of Conformity and Down. He joined Corrosion of Conformity in 1989, but did not become the lead singer until the recording of ''Deliverance'' in 1994. In 1991, Keenan formed Down with Phil Anselmo of Pantera, Jimmy Bower of Eyehategod, and Kirk Windstein and Todd Strange of Crowbar. Early life Keenan was born in Oxford, Mississippi, but now lives in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he owns a bar named "Le Bon Temps Roule". His father, a former musician, was a local real estate appraiser in New Orleans. While developing his playing style in New Orleans, Pepper served as a member of local band Graveyard Rodeo, and met and became friends with Corrosion of Conformity during their frequent shows at the infamous Franklin Avenue VFW Hall in New Orleans.
