Live Phish Volume 1
''Live Phish Vol. 1'' was recorded live at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena in Binghamton, New York on December 14, 1995. The show occurred towards the end of the band's 1995 fall tour, which featured a tour-long chess game between Phish and its audience. The second disc begins with a fan making a chess move onstage on behalf of the audience. The show contains a rare (for 1995) extended jam out of "Halley's Comet", as well as the final appearance of "Keyboard Army"—a collaborative piece that debuted earlier the same year and features all four band members on keyboards—until 2015. The release reached a peak position of #97 on the ''Billboard'' 200 album chart. The album marked the first time that longtime Phish concert staples "Suzy Greenberg", "Makisupa Policeman", "Tela", "The Curtain" and "Halley's Comet" had appeared on an official Phish release. Bold As Love (song)
"Bold as Love" is the title track of '' Axis: Bold as Love'', the second album by the Jimi Hendrix Experience. The song, which closes the album, was written by Jimi Hendrix and produced by band manager Chas Chandler. Recording and production The Jimi Hendrix Experience began work on "Bold as Love" in October 1967 at London's Olympic Sound Studios, recording a number of instrumental backing tracks in an initial session dedicated to the song on October 4. Hendrix, Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell also spent the following day's session focused on the track, recording over 20 different takes and four different endings throughout the day before eventually settling on a combination of takes 21 and 27 for the master recording. ''Phish'' (also known as ''The White Tape'') is a demo album released by the American rock band Phish on cassette in 1986. Often cited as the first Phish "album", ''The White Tape'' was originally a collection of original material that the band used as a demo/sample tape for venues, and was sometimes labelled "Phish" or simply "Demo". The album was widely circulated among Phish fans for more than a decade before being officially released in 1998. The album was created from four-track recordings over a period of three years and includes a number of outside musicians performing on various songs. Josh White
Joshua Daniel White (February 11, 1914 – September 5, 1969) was an American singer, guitarist, songwriter, actor and civil rights activist. He also recorded under the names Pinewood Tom and Tippy Barton in the 1930s. White grew up in the Southern United States, South during the 1920s and 1930s. Marc Daubert
Marc Daubert (born January 13, 1963) is an American musician. He collaborated with Phish for a brief time in their early history. Daubert was a close friend of guitarist Trey Anastasio. Anastasio, Daubert, and lyricist/keyboardist Tom Marshall recorded a project entitled '' Bivouac Jaun''. Much of this recording would end up on Phish's debut album, known as '' The White Tape''. Edgar Winter
Edgar Holland Winter (born December 28, 1946) is an American multi-instrumentalist, working as a vocalist along with playing keyboards, saxophone, and percussion. His success peaked in the 1970s with his band the Edgar Winter Group and their popular songs "Frankenstein (instrumental), Frankenstein" and "Free Ride (song), Free Ride". "Frankenstein" is an instrumental track by the American rock band Edgar Winter Group that was featured in the 1972 album ''They Only Come Out at Night'' and additionally released as a single. The song topped the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart for one week in May 1973, being replaced by Paul McCartney & Wings's " My Love". Frankenstein sold over one million copies. Page Samuel McConnell (born May 17, 1963) is an American multi-instrumentalist, most noted for his work as the keyboardist and a songwriter for the band Phish. McConnell joined Phish in 1985, and is the only member of its long-standing quartet lineup to not be an original member of the band. McConnell has been part of a number of other side projects, including leading the electronic jazz fusion band Vida Blue (band), Vida Blue and acting as a session musician for the comedy rock duo Tenacious D. Michael Eliot Gordon (born June 3, 1965) is an American bass guitarist and vocalist most recognized as a founding member of the band Phish. In addition to bass, Gordon plays banjo, piano, and guitar.
