Live Phish Japan Relief
Japan Relief is an archival live album release by the American rock band Phish. The show was recorded on July 31, 1999 during one of Phish's performances at that year's Fuji Rock Festival at the Naeba Ski Resort in Niigata Prefecture, Japan. All proceeds from this show were sent to the Peace Winds America and their Japanese relief program, Peace Winds Japan, following the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. The show was later made available through Phish's LivePhish website in limited CD format as well as through MP3 and lossless download format. The Fuji Rock Festival marked the first time Phish would play in Japan. Phish archivist said about the show "The July 31st show crackled with energy, intermingling classic and new material with an exploratory vibe that meshed with the atmosphere of respect and beauty." "Free" is a song by Vermont-based jam band Phish, released as the first single from their 1996 album '' Billy Breathes''. The track reached number 7 on the ''Billboard'' Adult Alternative Airplay chart, becoming their first song to reach the top 10 on that (or any) chart. It also reached numbers 11 and 24 on the Mainstream Rock and Alternative Airplay charts, respectively. ''The Siket Disc'' is the eighth studio album by the American rock band Phish. The album was released in June 1999 through the band's website and mail-order service, and was released commercially by Elektra Records on November 7, 2000. Unlike Phish's other records, ''The Siket Disc'' is completely instrumental, and its songs are excerpts from studio jams recorded during the sessions for ''The Story of the Ghost''. Production ''The Siket Disc'' emerged from material developed during the Bearsville Studio sessions for Phish's 1998 album ''The Story of the Ghost''. Not exactly outtakes or unfinished songs, ''The Siket Discs compositions are actually select excerpts from the long-form improvisation of the "Ghost Sessions". The Dude Of Life
Steve Pollak (born ), best known by his stage name The Dude of Life, is a musician and lyricist. Early life Steve Pollak is from White Plains, New York. He attended high school in the early 1980s. He earned the alias Dude of Life in high school while playing with the teenage band Space Antelope, along with fellow students Dudley Taft and Trey Anastasio. While going to boarding school at Taft in Watertown, Connecticut, he got the name from classmates when he appeared in a friend's dorm with orange goggles and draped in a tapestry, and saying otherworldly things. In his band Space Antelope, they wrote their own music and covered Grateful Dead songs. The Dude of Life and Trey Anastasio continued jamming together at the University of Vermont. The album was credited with connecting the band, known for its jam band concerts and devoted cult following, with a more mainstream audience. Eumir Deodato de Almeida (; born 22 June 1942) is a Brazilian pianist, composer, arranger and record producer, primarily in jazz but who has been known for his eclectic melding of genres, such as pop, rock, disco, rhythm and blues, classical, Latin and bossa nova. Page Samuel McConnell (born May 17, 1963 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American multi-instrumentalist most noted for his work as the keyboardist and a songwriter for the band Phish. In addition to having been a member of Phish since 1985, McConnell has been part of a number of other side projects, including leading the electronic jazz fusion band Vida Blue and acting as a session musician for the comedy rock duo Tenacious D. Jon Fishman
Jon Fishman (born February 19, 1965) is an American drummer known for his work with the band Phish, which he co-founded in 1983, and which was, in part, named after him. He is credited with co-writing nineteen Phish songs, eight with a solo credit. Early life Fishman was born in Philadelphia and grew up in Syracuse, New York. Fishman had a passion for the drums from an early age and emulated John Bonham, the drummer for Led Zeppelin, Bill Bruford of Yes, and Keith Moon of The Who. He went to Jamesville-Dewitt High School in a suburb of Syracuse. After graduation in 1983, he attended the University of Vermont to study engineering.
