''Live It Out'' is the second studio album released by the Canadian indie rock band Metric. It was released on September 27, 2005, on Last Gang Records. The album has sold 45,000 copies in the US; it went platinum in Canada, where it sold 100,000 units. ''Live It Out'' was shortlisted for the 2006 Polaris Music Prize and nominated for " Alternative Album of the Year" at Juno Awards 2006. The album was also chosen as one of Amazon.com's Top 100 Editor's Picks of 2005 and the 38th best album of 2006 by ''NME''. There were three singles (and videos) released from the album: " Monster Hospital", "Poster of a Girl" and "Empty". "Handshakes" was a radio promo that was released only in Canada. Metric are a Canadian indie rock band founded in 1998 in Toronto, Ontario. The band consists of Emily Haines (lead vocals, synthesizers, guitar, tambourine, harmonica, piano), James Shaw (guitar, synthesizers, theremin, backing vocals), Joshua Winstead (bass, synthesizers, backing vocals) and Joules Scott-Key (drums, percussion). The band started in 1998 as a duo formed by Haines and Shaw with the name "Mainstream". After releasing an EP titled '' Mainstream EP'', they changed the band's name to Metric. The band's first studio album, '' Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?'', was released in 2003. Juno Award For Alternative Album Of The Year
The Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year is presented annually at Canada's Juno Awards to honour the best album of the year in the alternative rock and/or indie rock genres. The award was first presented in 1995 under the name Best Alternative Album, and adopted its current name in 2003. Achievements Arcade Fire and July Talk have won the award three times to date, while Broken Social Scene, Metric, Alvvays and Rufus Wainwright have won the award twice each. In addition to Broken Social Scene's wins as a band, three members have also won the award for separate projects — Emily Haines and James Shaw have also won the award twice with their band Metric, and Leslie Feist has won for a solo album. The Independent Albums chart (previously titled Top Independent Albums) ranks the highest-selling independent music albums and extended plays (EPs) in the United States, as compiled by Nielsen SoundScan and published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine. The Heatseekers charts were "Breaking and Entering" music charts issued weekly by ''Billboard'' magazine. The Heatseekers Albums and the Heatseekers Songs charts were introduced by ''Billboard'' in 1991 with the purpose of highlighting the sales by new and developing musical recording artists. Joshua "Josh" Winstead is an American songwriter and musician. He is the bassist and synth player of the Canadian indie rock band Metric. On June 3, 2016, he released his debut solo album ''MMXX'' on his own label Royal Cut Records. Life and career Winstead was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and grew up in El Paso, Texas, where he first began playing guitar. Winstead and Joules Scott-Key (drummer for Metric and Bang Lime) both went to the University of North Texas, where they played in a number of bands together starting in 1991. One of these bands was 53 Large Men, who released an album titled ''Period of Senselessness''. The two moved to New York City together, where they played in another band called The Death of Death. She is the lead singer, keyboardist and songwriter of the rock band Metric and a member of the musical collective Broken Social Scene.
