Live By The Sea
''Live by the Sea'' is a live video recording by the English rock band Oasis, released on DVD, VCD, and VHS. It features Oasis' gig at the Southend Cliffs Pavilion on 17 April 1995, as well as the videos for "Rock 'n' Roll Star" and "Cigarettes & Alcohol". The title is a pun on a line from the song "(It's Good) To Be Free". History and release The seventeen-track recording was filmed on 17 April 1995 and then released onto VHS on 28 August 1995 and VCD in 1996. Following Big Brother Recordings' purchase of the Oasis catalogue, the album was re-released in 2001 on DVD. The front cover displays the familiar Oasis logo with a blue background instead of a black one, the same logo used on the " Live Forever" single. Oasis (band)
Oasis are an English Rock music, rock band formed in Manchester in 1991. The group initially consisted of Liam Gallagher (lead vocals), Paul Arthurs, Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs (guitar), Paul McGuigan (musician), Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan (bass guitar) and Tony McCarroll (drums). Liam asked his older brother Noel Gallagher (lead guitar, vocals) to join as a fifth member a few months later to finalise their formation. Noel became the ''de facto'' leader of the group and took over the songwriting duties for the band's first four studio albums. They are regarded as one of the defining and most globally successful groups of the Britpop genre. Slide Away (Oasis Song)
"Slide Away" is a song by the English rock band Oasis, taken from their debut studio album ''Definitely Maybe'' (1994). It was written by lead guitarist Noel Gallagher and serves as the tenth track on the album. Composition and recording Writing Noel Gallagher claims he wrote it on a Les Paul guitar that Johnny Marr sent to him, since he had few guitars available to him at the time. On the ''Definitely Maybe'' DVD, he also notes that he took Marr's guitar out of the case, sat down, and ''"the song wrote itself"''. Gallagher wrote it about his girlfriend at the time – Louise Jones and the song was written about their stormy relationship. Tony McCarroll
Anthony McCarroll (born 4 June 1971) is an English drummer and one of the founding members of the English rock band Oasis, as their drummer from 1991 until his dismissal in April 1995. He played the drums on their debut studio album, ''Definitely Maybe'', in addition to performing on the singles " Whatever" and " Some Might Say", the latter of which was Oasis's first number-one single from the album ''(What's the Story) Morning Glory?''. Paul McGuigan (musician)
Paul Francis McGuigan (born 9 May 1971), known as Guigsy ( ), is an English retired musician. He is best known as the original bassist and co-founder of the rock band Oasis. Career In the late 1980s, McGuigan started a band called The Rain with Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs on guitar, Chris Hutton on lead vocals, and Tony McCarroll on drums. After Hutton was fired, McGuigan invited his school friend Liam Gallagher to join on vocals. Liam's brother Noel then joined the band as a guitarist and the primary songwriter, at which point they changed their name to Oasis. Paul Arthurs
Paul Benjamin Arthurs (born 23 June 1965), better known as Bonehead, is an English musician. He is best known as the co-founder and rhythm guitarist of the rock band Oasis, playing with the band from its inception in 1991 until his departure in 1999. After Oasis, Arthurs released albums as part of two duos, Parlour Flames and Phoneys & the Freaks, and has toured as a member of Oasis bandmate Liam Gallagher's solo band.
