Allmusic
AllMusic (previously known as All-Music Guide and AMG) is an American online music database. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands. Initiated in 1991, the database was first made available on the Internet in 1994. AllMusic is owned by RhythmOne. History AllMusic was launched as All-Music Guide by Michael Erlewine, a "compulsive archivist, noted astrologer, Buddhist scholar and musician". He became interested in using computers for his astrological work in the mid-1970s and founded a software company, Matrix, in 1977. In the early 1990s, as CDs replaced LPs as the dominant format for recorded music, Erlewine purchased what he thought was a CD of early recordings by Little Richard. After buying it, he discovered it was a "flaccid latter-day rehash". Frustrated with the labeling, he researched using metadata to create a music guide. In 1990, in Big Rapids, Michigan, he founded ''All Music Guid ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

No One Is To Blame
"No One Is to Blame" is a song by British musician Howard Jones. The song, in its original version, can be found on his second studio album, ''Dream into Action'', which was released in 1985. Following the success of the previous singles taken from the album, the original track for "No One Is to Blame" was re-recorded to give the song a more radio-friendly sound. Phil Collins and Hugh Padgham produced the re-recording, with Collins adding his own drum work and mood. This new version of the song was included on the 1986 US EP ''Action Replay'' as well as the CD version of Jones' 1986 studio album, '' One to One''. "No One Is to Blame" was released as a single in March 1986 and became Jones' biggest hit in the United States, peaking at #4 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. The song also became the first of his two #1 songs on the U.S. adult contemporary chart ("Everlasting Love" would top this chart in 1989). The song was also a top 10 hit in Australia and a #16 hit in the U.K. Track ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

New Song (Howard Jones Song)
"New Song" is the debut single by musician Howard Jones, released in August 1983. The single reached number three on the UK Singles Chart, spending 20 weeks in the Top 75. On the UK seven-inch single, the song's lyrics are printed in a spiral on the A-side label, with all the credits printed on the B-side. It was released in the US in early 1984, peaking at #27 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart. The track later appeared on Jones' debut album '' Human's Lib''. Background Howard Jones said, "In 'New Song,' I wanted a song that was like my manifesto, like why I wanted to be in the business and why I wanted to write songs in the first place. I was working in the factory at the time - I was doing the gigs at night and I was working in the factory. And I wanted to say to people, 'You can. It is possible to do what you really want to do if you've got enough guts and determination. You can do what you're really good at in this life if you set your mind to it.' What Is Love (Howard Jones Song)
"What Is Love?" is the second single by musician Howard Jones. Released in 1983, from the album '' Human's Lib'', it reached no. 2 in the UK Singles Chart, becoming the singer's highest chart placing to date. In the US, it peaked at no. 33 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. The song was originally entitled "Love?" on the demo tape (listing below) which Howard Jones recorded in 1982, which itself was available at his gigs. Jones also used the question mark motif around this time on posters advertising his gigs; posters which also hung behind him on stage at his early 1980s Marquee Club appearances and which read simply "Howard Jones?". Background Howard Jones said, "I didn't want to write songs about, 'I love you, baby, you've hurt me and I'm sad.' I didn't want to write songs about co-dependency. If I was going to write about love, I wanted to say what do we mean by love? What is it, really? You can't be dependent upon another person for your happiness. So you'd better question this ... Things Can Only Get Better (Howard Jones Song)
"Things Can Only Get Better" was released as the first single from Howard Jones' 1985 album '' Dream into Action''. Background A typically upbeat Jones composition, it was one of two songs from the album to feature all-female singing group Afrodiziak on backing vocals. John Leland from ''Spin'' magazine wrote that "It mines the best of the Anglo soul movement: a clean slap-bass line, precise horns and synths, and some well-paced and inviting singing". The main B-side was another album track from the UK version of the album, "Why Look for the Key", although with a slightly longer fade that made it about twenty seconds longer than the version on the UK version of ''Dream into Action''. "You Jazzy Nork!" is a reworked instrumental version of "Why Look for the Key" performed by the Alphonse Conway Orchestra. The cover of the 12" single featured a photograph of Jones, in profile, sitting on a high bar stool. This image was used in silhouette for the 7" artwork, the single bein ... Life In One Day
"Life in One Day" is the third single from Howard Jones' 1985 album '' Dream Into Action''. It is an uptempo number, which lyrically warns against wishing one's life away. It reached number 14 in the UK Singles Chart, and number 19 on the United States ''Billboard'' Hot 100. The 12" version features a pair of remixes of the lead track which were more obviously different in structure from the original than was the norm on Jones' previous releases. Part One is a vocal mix, and Part Two a largely instrumental dub mix. The UK B-side, "Boom Bap Respite", a piano instrumental, was not included in the US release. Instead the song was coupled with "Learning How to Love", a song previously available the UK on the single " Look Mama". In his native UK, where Jones had enjoyed numerous pop hits, "Everlasting Love" failed to have as much of an impact as earlier singles, stalling at No. 62 on the UK Singles Chart. It features a saxophone solo by Davey Payne of Ian Dury's band The Blockheads. Unlike Jones' previous singles, the 12" single edition did not feature an extended mix of the main track, though an extended mix later appeared on '' The 12" Album''.
