Liuda Semykina
Liudmyla Nikolaevna Semykina ( uk, Людмила Миколаївна Семикіна) (23 August 1924 – 12 January 2021) was an artist and painter from Odesa, Ukraine, and an Honored Artist of Ukraine (2009). She was awarded the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine for a series of costumes for ''High Castle'' (1997) and a winner of the Vasyl Stus Prize (2000). Semykina is known for her artworks, including many paintings, landscapes, and still life portraits of Odesa. Biography Semykina graduated from Grekov Odesa Art School in 1943 and the Kiev State Art Institute in 1953. She became a member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine in 1958. In 1964, one year after she joined the Club of Creative Youth in Kyiv, she was commissioned by the Kyiv University to paint an image. She created a stained-glass panel depicting an angry Taras Shevchenko holding a battered woman and a book. The battered woman in Semykina's work symbolized Ukraine. Pochaina (Kyiv Metro)
Pochaina ( uk, Почайна, ) is a station on Kyiv Metro's Obolonsko–Teremkivska line. The station was opened on 19 December 1980 in the Petrivka neighborhood of the Podilskyi Raion of Kyiv near Pochaina Railway Station. It was designed by I.L. Maslenkov, T.A. Tselikovska, A.S. Krushynskyi, and F.M. Zaremba. The station is located shallow underground and consists of a central hall with columns. The walls along the tracks have been covered with yellow marble and decorated with two abstract reliefs. Hanging above one of the entrances into the station's hall is a colorful mosaic. The station is accessible by passenger tunnels; the northern one leading to a square, the southern one — to Pochaina Railway Station. De-Stalinization
De-Stalinization (russian: десталинизация, translit=destalinizatsiya) comprised a series of political reforms in the Soviet Union after the death of long-time leader Joseph Stalin in 1953, and the thaw brought about by ascension of Nikita Khrushchev to power, and his 1956 secret speech On the Cult of Personality and Its Consequences, which denounced Stalin's cult of personality and the Stalinist political system.
