Liu Yuzhong
Liu Yuzhong ( zh, 劉郁中, 1911 – 31 May 1979) was a Chinese politician. She was among the first group of women elected to the Legislative Yuan in 1948. Biography Originally from Xinmin in Liaoning Province, Liu attended Peking National University. She joined the Kuomintang and became chair of its women's committee in Liaobei Province. Legislative Yuan
The Legislative Yuan () is the unicameral legislature of the Republic of China (Taiwan) located in Taipei. The Legislative Yuan is composed of 113 members, who are directly elected for four-year terms by people of the Taiwan Area through a parallel voting system. Originally located in Nanjing, the Legislative Yuan, along with the National Assembly (electoral college) and the Control Yuan (upper house), formed the tricameral parliament under the original 1947 Constitution. The Legislative Yuan previously had 760 members representing constituencies in all of China (includes provinces, municipalities, Tibet Area, and various professions in Mainland China). The city of Xinmin () is a county-level city of Liaoning Province, Northeast China, under the administration of the prefecture-level city of Shenyang. It contains the westernmost point of and is by far the most spacious of the county-level divisions of Shenyang City. Kuomintang
The Kuomintang (KMT) is a major political party in the Republic of China (Taiwan). It was the one party state, sole ruling party of the country Republic of China (1912-1949), during its rule from 1927 to 1949 in Mainland China until Retreat of the government of the Republic of China to Taiwan, its relocation to Taiwan, and in Taiwan Martial law in Taiwan, ruled under martial law until 1987. The KMT is a Centre-right politics, centre-right to Right-wing politics, right-wing party and the largest in the Pan-Blue Coalition, one of the two main political groups in Taiwan. Liaobei ( Wade-Giles: Liaopei) also known as Liaopeh is a ''de jure'' province of the Republic of China under ROC law as the government of the Republic of China formally claims to be the sole legitimate government of China. Located in Manchuria, the major part of the area of Liaobei constitutes the parts of province which is now in Inner Mongolia, now under the ''de facto'' jurisdiction of the People's Republic of China. Its ''de jure'' capital is located in Liaoyuan City (present-day Shuangliao, Jilin), but the ''de facto'' capital is at Siping City since Liaoyuan was already occupited by the Communists. 1948 Chinese Legislative Election
The 1st Legislative Yuan election was held in Republic of China (1912–1949), China between 21 and 23 January 1948. This election, and the preceding 1947 Chinese National Assembly election, 1947 National Assembly election are the first elections of under the newly ratified 1947 Constitution of the Republic of China. The Chinese Civil War was fought between the Kuomintang-led Nationalist government, government of the Republic of China (1912–1949), Republic of China and the forces of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Armed conflict continued intermittently from 1 August 1927 until Communist victory resulted in their total control over mainland China on 7 December 1949.
