Little Ten Conference
The Little Ten Conference is the oldest continuous high school athletic conference in the state of Illinois. Founded in 1919, it comprised the following small high schools in northern Illinois: Earlville, Hinckley, Leland, Paw Paw, Plano, Rollo, Sandwich, Shabbona, Somonauk, and Waterman. The conference is still in operation and currently consists of the following members: DePue, Earlville, Hinckley-Big Rock, Indian Creek, Kirkland Hiawatha, LaMoille, Leland, Newark, Serena, Somonauk, and the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA). Over the years, there have been a number of other area schools in the conference, including Malta. Eight of the original ten schools are still members in some form. Illinois High School Association
The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) is an association that regulates competition of interscholastic sports and some interscholastic activities at the high school level for the state of Illinois. It is a charter member of the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS). The IHSA regulates 14 sports for boys, 15 sports for girls, and eight co-educational non-athletic activities. More than 760 public and private high schools in the state of Illinois are members of the IHSA. The Association's offices are in Bloomington, Illinois. In its over 100 years of existence, the IHSA has been at the center of many controversies. Sheridan, Illinois
Sheridan is a village in LaSalle County, Illinois, United States. As of the 2020 census, the village's population was 2,431, up from 2,137 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Ottawa Micropolitan Statistical Area. Geography Sheridan is located at (41.5236847, -88.6850380). According to the 2021 census gazetteer files, Sheridan has a total area of , of which (or 98.29%) is land and (or 1.71%) is water. The village lies at a bend in the Fox River where Somonauk Creek enters the river, and the Lower Fox River Dells start. Somonauk is a village in DeKalb and LaSalle Counties in the U.S. state of Illinois. The population was 1,786 at the 2020 Census, down from 1,893 at the 2010 Census. The DeKalb County portion of Somonauk is part of the Chicago-Naperville-Elgin, IL-IN-WI Metropolitan Statistical Area, while the small portion that lies in LaSalle County is part of the Ottawa, IL Micropolitan Statistical Area. The name is most likely derived from the phonetic phrase ''As-sim-in-eh-kon'', which translates to "pawpaw grove", in reference to the vast groves of pawpaw trees that filled the area at that time. La Moille, Illinois
La Moille is a village in Bureau County, Illinois, United States. The population was 679 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Ottawa Micropolitan Statistical Area. La Moille was named after the Lamoille River valley, in Vermont. History La Moille was first settled in 1830 by Daniel Dimmick, who went on to found Dimmick, Illinois after the Blackhawk War. The village was originally named Greenfield when platted, but was soon after changed to La Moille. In 1870, an extension of the Chicago, Burlington, and Quincy Railroad began passenger and freight service between Mendota, IL and Fulton, IL. By 1877, the town was home to a hotel, several churches, more than a dozen stores, a grain elevator, doctors, and a one room schoolhouse. These businesses made up a downtown area of three blocks.
