"Little Children" is a song written by J. Leslie McFarland and Mort Shuman, and was recorded by Billy J. Kramer & the Dakotas. Background The lyric concerns a man's entreaties to his girlfriend's young siblings not to reveal his courtship of their elder sister and to leave them alone, at some points, even bribing them with things like "candy and a quarter" and "a movie", on the condition that they "keep a secret". As such, it was a departure from the traditional love songs previously recorded by Kramer (sometimes supplied by Lennon & McCartney). "One and One Is Two" is a song by the musical group ''The Strangers with Mike Shannon'', released as their debut single in 1964. It was composed by Paul McCartney and published under the author's credit Lennon/McCartney. Background The demo of "One And One Is Two" was probably recorded in Paris in mid-January/early February 1964, with McCartney singing to an acoustic guitar and piano. It was recorded at the George V Hotel during the Beatles' concert series at the Olympia at the request of publisher Dick James. The demo has not yet been released legally. "One And One Is Two" was originally intended for Billy J. Kramer & the Dakotas, but the group declined. The UK Singles Chart is the official record chart in the United Kingdom. Prior to 1969 there was no official singles chart; however, The Official Charts Company and Guinness' British Hit Singles & Albums regard the canonical sources as ''New Musical Express'' (''NME'') before 10 March 1960 and ''Record Retailer'' from then until 15 February 1969 when ''Retailer'' and the BBC jointly commissioned the British Market Research Bureau (BMRB) to compile the charts. The choice to use ''Record Retailer'' as the canonical source for the 1960s has been contentious because ''NME'' (which continued compiling charts beyond March 1960) had the biggest circulation of periodicals in the decade and was more widely followed. Brian Epstein
Brian Samuel Epstein (; 19 September 1934 – 27 August 1967) was a British music entrepreneur who managed the Beatles from 1962 until his death in 1967. Epstein was born into a family of successful retailers in Liverpool, who put him in charge of their music shop, where he displayed a gift for talent-spotting. He first met the Beatles in 1961 at a lunchtime concert at Liverpool's Cavern Club. Although he had no experience of artist management, Epstein put them under contract and insisted that they abandon their scruff-image in favour of a new clean-cut style. He also attempted to get the Beatles a recording contract, eventually securing a deal with EMI's Parlophone label. Within months, the Beatles were international stars. Lennon–McCartney was the songwriting partnership between English musicians John Lennon (1940–1980) and Paul McCartney (born 1942) of the Beatles. It is the best-known and most successful musical collaboration ever by records sold, with the Beatles selling over 600 million records worldwide as of 2004. The Dakotas (band)
The Dakotas is a group of British musicians, which initially convened as a backing band in Manchester, England. Their original vocalist was Pete McLaine who Brian Epstein replaced with the singer Billy J.
