Urban Gad
Peter Urban Bruun Gad (12 February 1879 – 26 December 1947) was a Danish film director, stage actor, screenwriter, and author. He directed 40 films between 1910 and 1927. His wife Asta Nielsen starred in 30 of his films, also in his début the film '' Afgrunden'' (''The Abyss'') from 1910. They moved to Germany in 1911 where Gad worked with Paul Davidson until 1922. His mother was the playwright Emma Gad. In 1873, the painter Paul Gauguin married his father's cousin, Mette-Sophie Gad. Between 1912 and 1918, Gad was married to actress Asta Nielsen. His films include a German-language adaptation of Gerhart Hauptmann's play '' The Assumption of Hannele'', which Gad directed in 1922.. Hanns Kräly
Hanns Kräly (January 16, 1884 – November 11, 1950), credited in the United States as Hans Kraly, was a German actor and screenwriter. His main collaborations were with director Ernst Lubitsch, and they worked together on 30 films between 1915 and 1929. Kräly is also notable for his comedy play '' Kohlhiesel's Daughters'' which has been turned into films on a number of occasions. Kräly was nominated for three Academy Awards for writing. He won the award for Best Writing with '' The Patriot'' in 1930. He was also nominated for the adapted screenplay of '' The Last of Mrs. Cheyney'', also in 1930, and for Original Screenplay of ''One Hundred Men and a Girl'' in 1937. Additional screenwriting credits include ''Private Lives'' and '' Just a Gigolo'', both released in 1931. Martin Wolff (26 September 1872 – 20 July 1953) was a professor of law at the University of Berlin in Germany. In 1934, he was expelled from his post by the Nazis and emigrated to Britain, where he became a fellow at Oxford University. He specialized in private international law and property law, writing numerous works, including standard works in German and English. Life Early life and studies (1872–1903) Martin Wolff, the son of Wilhelm Wolff and Lehna Wolff (née Ball) was born in Berlin on 26 September 1872, into the family of a Jewish businessman and brought up in the Jewish faith.
