Litlesotra
Litlesotra, or sometimes Lille Sotra, is an island in Øygarden Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is part of the Sotra island group which makes up the southern part of a larger archipelago of islands from Fedje south through Øygarden. The island has about 10,000 residents. The main settlement on the island is Straume. Other settlements include Knarrevik, Foldnes, and Brattholmen. The island is connected to the mainland via the Sotra Bridge. It is also connected to the large island of Sotra, via a series of bridges over the island of Bildøy. The island lies where the Hjeltefjorden meets the Byfjorden. The island of Bjorøyna lies to the south, the island of Askøy lies to the northeast, the island of Geitung lies to the northwest, and Bildøy and Sotra islands lie to the west. Sotra
Sotra or Store Sotra is the name of a large island in Øygarden Municipality in Vestland county, Norway, located just west of the city of Bergen. It is part of a pair of islands called 'Sotra' and 'Litlesotra' ('small Sotra') that are part of a large archipelago stretching from Fedje southwards along the coast of Norway. The larger island of the two is Store Sotra (also called Sotra), and the smaller (and least populated) of the two is Litlesotra. Roughly 28,700 (2017) people live on the two islands of Sotra, with the larger island having a population of about 19,100 (2017) and 9,589 (2017) living on the smaller island. Askøy (island)
Askøy is an island in Vestland county, Norway. The island is located entirely inside the municipality of Askøy, and the island makes up about 88% of the municipal area and is home to about 96% of the municipal residents. In 2014, there were 26,230 people living on the island. Since the opening of the Askøy Bridge leading to the mainland in the city of Bergen in 1992, the population has increased rapidly. Sotra Bridge
The Sotra Bridge ( no, Sotrabrua) is a suspension bridge which crosses Knarreviksundet between Knarrevik in Øygarden Municipality and Drotningsvik on the mainland of Bergen Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It carries two road lanes and two narrow pedestrian paths of National Road 555, providing a fixed link for the archipelago of Sotra. The bridge is long, has a main span of and a clearance of . In 2007, it had an average 25,494 vehicles per day. The bridge was brought into use on 11 December 1971, although not officially opened until 1972. It cost 40 million Norwegian krone (NOK) to build, of which NOK 23.5 million was paid for with tolls, which were collected until 1983. When it opened, it was the longest suspension bridge in Norway, but is now the seventh longest. Vestland is a county in Norway established on 1 January 2020. The county is located in Western Norway and it is centred around the city of Bergen, Norway's second largest city. Byfjorden (Hordaland)
Byfjorden (Norwegian Nynorsk and Bokmål: /byːfjɔrn/, /-ɔɾn/; Bokmål: also /-ɔɳ/; Bergensk: usually /-ɔʁn/) is a fjord in Vestland county, Norway. The long fjord separates the island of Askøy from the mainland Bergen Peninsula, passing right north of the city of Bergen on the mainland. The western entrance to Byfjorden is between the village of Drotningsvik in Laksevåg borough, Bergen, and the village of Marikoven on the island of Askøy in Askøy municipality. The northern entrance to the fjord is between the village of Ask on Askøy and Mjølkeråen in the borough of Åsane in Bergen. On the northern end, it connects with the Salhusfjorden and Herdlefjorden. Bergen Peninsula
The Bergen Peninsula ( nb, Bergenshalvøya, ; nn, Bergenshalvøyen) is a peninsula in Vestland county, Norway. The city of Bergen, Norway's second largest city, is located on the peninsula.
