Kite Festival
The Bristol International Kite Festival, full name Bristol International Festival of Kites & Air Creations, used to be held annually during September in Bristol, England. It takes place at the Ashton Court estate, which is owned by Politics of Bristol, Bristol City Council, although it is actually in the district of North Somerset. The festival started in 1986 and celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2011. In 1991, the festival hosted the World Cup Sport Kite Championship. Organiser and kite designer Martin Lester was inducted into the World Kite Museum hall of fame in 1998. Funding problems have caused difficulties but have been overcome and the festival pulls in crowds of over 30,000. Bali Kite Festival
The Bali Kite Festival is an annual international kite festival held in July in Padang Galak area, Sanur Beach, Bali. Traditional giant kites (4 metres in width and almost 10 metres in length) are made and flown competitively by teams from the villages (''banjar'') of Denpasar. The event is a seasonal religious festival intended to send a thanking message to the Hindu gods to create abundant crops and harvests. The teams consist of about 70 to 80 people, each team with its own Gamelan band, flag bearers and flyers. Bebean (fish-shaped), Janggan (bird-shaped). and Pecukan (leaf-shaped) are three traditional kites flown during this kite festival. The kites are flown by teams of 10 or more adult kitefliers. The Bebean is the largest kite, and looks like a broad-mouthed, split-tailed fish. The Janggan form has a broad flowing cloth tail that can reach more than 100 metres in length. Pas De Calais
The Strait of Dover or Dover Strait, historically known as the Dover Narrows, is the strait at the narrowest part of the English Channel, marking the boundary between the Channel and the North Sea, and separating Great Britain from continental Europe. Weifang ( zh, s=潍坊, t=濰坊, p=Wéifāng) is a prefecture-level city in central Shandong province, People's Republic of China. The city borders Dongying to the northwest, Zibo to the west, Linyi to the southwest, Rizhao to the south, Qingdao to the east, and looks out to the Laizhou Bay to the north.
