Janullah Hashimzada
Janullah Hashimzada (1969 - 24 August 2009) (جان الله هاشم زاده) was an Afghan journalist and bureau chief in Peshawar, Pakistan for the Afghanistan Shamshad TV channel. He was an outspoken critic of the Taliban. Career In addition to his work for Shamshad TV where he was a familiar face, and Pajhwok Afghan News, Hashimzada was also a freelance journalist to international media organizations, including the BBC, supplying frontline footage from the dangerous militant and insurgency areas of Pakistan. He spoke Arabic, Urdu, English, Pashto and Dari and interviewed several Taliban, Hezb-e-Islami Gulbuddin and Al Qaeda commanders and criticized their policies in his reports. Death On Monday August 24, 2009, while returning from Afghanistan to Pakistan by bus, Hashimzada was assassinated in the Khyber Pass, the mountain pass that connects Pakistan and Afghanistan near Jamrud in the Khyber tribal area. Murtaza Razvi
Murtaza Razvi (17 December 1964 19 April 2012) was a senior Pakistani journalist with ''Dawn'' newspaper, Karachi, Pakistan. Besides Urdu language and English, he knew German, French, Hindi and Persian languages. Biography Murtaza Razvi held master's degrees in Ancient Indian and Islamic History (University of the Punjab, Lahore) and Political Science & International Relations (Villanova University, Villanova, PA, USA). In 2009, Murtaza supervised over the huge task of merging four Dawn newspaper magazines ''Sunday Magazine'', ''The Review'', ''Images'' and ''Gallery'' into what ''Images Magazine'' is even in 2025. Daniel Pearl (October 10, 1963 – February 1, 2002) was an American journalist who worked for ''The Wall Street Journal.'' On January 23, 2002, he was kidnapped by Jihadism, jihadist militants while he was on his way to what he had expected would be an interview with Pakistani Islamic scholar Mubarak Ali Gilani in Karachi, Sindh. The conflict has been going on since 1947, but since 2001, 28–33 journalists have been killed and between 2009 and 2012 at over 23 journalists have been killed.
