The New Taiwan dollar (ISO 4217, code: TWD; currency symbol, symbol: NT$, also abbreviated as NT) is the official currency of the Taiwan, Republic of China (Taiwan). Usually, the dollar sign, $ sign precedes the amount, but NT$ is used to distinguish from other currencies named dollar. The New Taiwan dollar has been the currency of the Geography of Taiwan, island of Taiwan since 1949, when it replaced the old Taiwan dollar, at a rate of 40,000 old dollars per one new dollar. The base unit of the New Taiwan dollar is called a Yuan (currency), yuan (), subdivided into ten Jiao (currency), chiao () or 100 Fen (currency), fen (), although in practice neither chiao nor fen are used. ''Life of Pi'' is a 2012 adventure-drama film directed and produced by Ang Lee and written by David Magee. Based on Yann Martel's 2001 novel of the same name, it stars Suraj Sharma, Irrfan Khan, Rafe Spall, Tabu and Adil Hussain in lead roles. The storyline revolves around two survivors of a shipwreck.
