2025 United Nations Security Council Election
The 2025 United Nations Security Council election was held on 3 June 2025 during the Seventy-ninth session of the United Nations General Assembly, 79th session of the United Nations United Nations General Assembly, General Assembly, held at United Nations Headquarters in New York City. 2025 Mauritian Municipal Elections
Municipal elections were held in Mauritius on 4 May 2025 to determine the composition of the municipal councils of the city of Port Louis and the towns of Beau Bassin-Rose Hill, Curepipe, Quatre Bornes, and Vacoas-Phoenix. Initially planned for 2021, Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth's government delayed the elections that year and again in 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The government postponed the elections for a third time in 2023, sparking criticism from the opposition. The previous elections were held in 2015, which resulted in Alliance Lepep sweeping all councils. 2025 Bermudian General Election
General elections were held in Bermuda on 18 February 2025 to elect all 36 members of the House of Assembly. Background Prior to the election, the PLP was the dominant party in Bermudian politics, having unseated the OBA in the 2017 general election. In the subsequent 2020 election, the PLP expanded its majority to 30 seats. Premier Edward David Burt has governed Bermuda since winning the 2017 general election. General elections were held in Belize on 12 March 2025 to elect the 31 members of the House of Representatives (Belize), House of Representatives. 2025 Anguillian General Election
General elections were held in Anguilla on 26 February 2025. The election resulted in a victory for the opposition Anguilla United Front, with Cora Richardson-Hodge becoming Anguilla's first female premier. Electoral system The 13-member House of Assembly consists of seven members elected in single-member constituencies by first-past-the-post voting, four at-large members elected from the entire island by plurality at-large voting and two ''ex officio'' members, the Attorney General and Deputy Governor. 2025 Tristan Da Cunha General Election
General elections were held in Tristan da Cunha on 5 March 2025 to elect eight members of the Island Council and the Chief Islander. Electoral system The 12-member Island Council consists of the Administrator as President, three appointed members and eight elected members, who are elected by plurality-at-large voting. At least one elected member of the council must be a woman. If there are no women among the eight candidates that receive the most votes, only the top seven male candidates are declared elected, alongside the woman that received the highest number of votes. If there are no female candidates, a by-election is held for the eighth seat, in which only female candidates can stand. 2025 Togolese Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in Togo on 3 May 2025 to choose a president for a four-year term. It was the first presidential election since the 2024 constitutional reforms, which abolished direct presidential elections and instead made the President of Togo indirectly elected by the National Assembly to serve a double four-year term. Incumbent President Faure Gnassingbé, who had been in office since May 2005, was ineligible for re-election. The presidency is a largely ceremonial position, wielding little real power. The president's main role is meeting the leaders of each party following legislative elections to discuss nominations for prime minister, and giving a mandate to try and form a government to the candidate they deem most likely to succeed. General elections are due to be held in Tanzania on 28 October 2025. Electoral system The President of Tanzania is elected by plurality voting; the candidate who receives the most votes is elected.
