A drummer is a percussionist who creates music using drums. Most contemporary western music ensemble, bands that play Rock music, rock, Pop music, pop, jazz, or Contemporary R&B, R&B music include a drummer for purposes including timekeeping and embellishing the musical timbre. The drummer's equipment includes a drum kit (or "drum set" or "trap set"), which includes various drums, cymbals and an assortment of accessory hardware such as pedals, standing support mechanisms, and drum sticks. Particularly in the traditional music of many countries, drummers use individual drums of various sizes and designs rather than drum kits. Some use only their hands to strike the drums. In larger ensembles, the drummer may be part of a rhythm section with other percussionists playing. These musicians provide the timing and rhythmic foundation which allow the players of melodic instruments, including voices, to coordinate their musical performance. Charlie Adams (drummer)
Charlie Adams (born May 8, 1954) is an American drummer, best known for playing in Yanni's touring band, after having played with Yanni in the early 1980s rock band Chameleon. Adams was born in Joliet, Illinois. Music career Early life Adams was born and raised in Joliet, Illinois. Prior to joining Chameleon, he taught drums to local students, including future Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin. Soda Stereo
Soda Stereo was an Argentine rock band formed in Buenos Aires in 1982. The band's membership consisted of singer-guitarist Gustavo Cerati, bassist Zeta Bosio and drummer Charly Alberti. During their career, the band released seven studio albums before disbanding in 1997. Soda Stereo is the best-selling Argentine band of all time, having sold seven million records by 2007. The band's 1984 self-titled debut album featured a new wave and ska influenced sound, which evolved into a post-punk style found on their subsequent albums '' Nada personal'' (1985), '' Signos'' (1986), and '' Doble Vida'' (1988). Charly Alberti
Charly Alberti (born Carlos Alberto Ficicchia; 27 March 1963) is an Argentine musician. He was the drummer for the rock band Soda Stereo, which was formed in 1982 and disbanded in 1997. Biography Alberti was born on 27 March 1963 in Buenos Aires. He is the son of jazz musician and drummer Tito Alberti. He began studying music at the age of six. Alberti met Gustavo Cerati, the future singer and guitarist of Soda Stereo, through Maria Laura Cerati, Gustavo's sister, who used to go to the River Plate sports club's pool. There Alberti played waterpolo and frequently talked to Maria Laura attempting to impress her. She told him that his brother was also interested in The Police and played the guitar. Rob Affuso
Robert James Affuso (born March 1, 1963) is an American heavy metal drummer best known as a member of the band Skid Row from 1987 to 1996. Affuso is currently the band leader and drummer for Soulsystem, a band he formed while touring with Skid Row in 1992. He also formed an entertainment company Soulsystem Orchestras Inc. in New York. Affuso played in the band Ozone Monday with several of his former Skid Row bandmates. He was not involved in Skid Row's 1999 reunion. He has said that he would not rejoin the band without former lead singer Sebastian Bach. Adler's Appetite, is an American rock band from Los Angeles, formed in 2003. The band's current lineup consists of namesake and drummer Steven Adler, vocalist Ari Kamin, guitarists Michael Thomas and Alistair James, and bassist Todd Kerns. Along with original material, the band performs covers of Adler's former band Guns N' Roses, primarily songs from the album ''Appetite for Destruction''. Steven Adler
Steven Adler (born Michael Coletti; January 22, 1965) is an American musician. He was the drummer and co-songwriter of the hard rock band Guns N' Roses, with whom he achieved worldwide success in the late 1980s. Adler was fired from Guns N' Roses over his heroin addiction in 1990, following which he reformed his pre-Guns N' Roses band Road Crew and briefly joined BulletBoys. During the 2000s, Adler was the drummer of the band Adler's Appetite, and from 2012, he had held the same position in the band Adler. In early 2017, he declared that he had no intention to continue with the band and that the band has been dissolved, with the reason being his lack of interest in performing during poorly attended concerts. Henry Adler (June 28, 1915 – September 30, 2008) was an American jazz drummer, teacher, author, and publisher. He taught drummer Buddy Rich how to read music and co-wrote ''Buddy Rich's Modern Interpretation of Snare Drum Rudiments'', published in 1942. Early years A native of New York City, Adler grew up during the Depression. He bought his first snare drum when he was thirteen and learned to play it without formal instruction.
