Abandon All Ships was a Canadian post-hardcore band from Toronto, Ontario. Formed in 2006, it was signed domestically to Universal Music Group, Universal Music Canada via Underground Operations, along with an American deal to Rise Records and its imprint Rise Records#Velocity Records, Velocity Records. History Formation and self-titled debut EP (2006–2009) Abandon All Ships was founded in 2006 in Toronto, Ontario, originally playing covers of Norma Jean (band), Norma Jean songs. The band started when the members were in 8th grade doing screamo and pop punk. African Guitar Summit
African Guitar Summit is a group of nine Canadian musicians, all of African origin, who perform traditional songs from their native countries. History The African Guitar Summit was organized in Toronto as part of a performance project for CBC Radio's ''On Stage'' program. Musicians were, from Guinea, guitarist Alpha Yaya DialloDavid Dacks"Alpha Yaya Diallo" ''Exclaim!'', June 27, 2010. and on balafon Naby Camara. From Ghana, guitarist Pa Joe, singer Theo Yaw Boakye, and drummer Kofi Ackah took part. Additional musicians were Adam Solomon from Kenya, Mighty Popo from Burundi/Rwanda, and from Madagascar guitarist and harmony singer Donné Roberts and Madagascar Slim. Aerial (Canadian Band)
Aerial was a Canadian pop and rock band from Toronto, active from 1973 to 1981. History Saskatchewan natives Brian Meissner and Laurie Currie originally found notoriety in the Winnipeg showband Sugar & Spice. By 1972, the band had changed its name to Spice and relocated to Toronto. When Spice broke up, Meissner and Currie launched a Beatles tribute act called Liverpool, with Miessner on bass and lead vocals, Currie on vocals and drums, David Moyles on guitar, and Rick Pearson on vocals and guitar. This original lineup played the first-ever Beatles Festival, The Fest for Beatles Fans, in New York City in 1974 and, that same year, played the famed Whisky a Go Go in Los Angeles. Adam and the Amethysts was a Canadian indie rock band formed in Montreal in 2004. The band was fronted by Adam Waito, a former member of Miracle Fortress. The band released two albums and toured mostly around North America. History Waito was born in Manitouwadge, Ontario, raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario and moved to Montreal in the early 2000s. He co-founded Telefauna in 2004, an indie-pop band whose that played the Pop Montreal festival three times. The Acorn is the music project of singer-songwriter and musician Rolf-Carlos Klausener formed in Ottawa, Ontario in 2003. Their music spanned numerous genres, from art-folk and indie, to minimal electro and folk-rock, and members played with numerous other bands. Their songs have charted on Canadian campus charts and have been in rotation on CBC Radio 3 and The Verge.
