List Of West Virginia State Forests
West Virginia contains a network of eight state forests that help to protect over of wooded lands in the state. Most of the forests are managed by the West Virginia Division of Forestry, although Kanawha State Forest is managed as a state park by the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, Division of Natural Resources. All of the forests except for Calvin Price State Forest, Calvin Price contain recreational facilities managed in cooperation with the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, DNR. Coopers Rock State Forest
Coopers Rock State Forest is a state forest in Monongalia County, West Virginia, Monongalia and Preston County, West Virginia, Preston counties in the U.S. state of West Virginia. Seneca State Forest
Seneca State Forest is a state forest located in Pocahontas County, West Virginia. Created in 1924, it is the oldest state forest in West Virginia. It is also West Virginia's second-largest state forest at . The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources rents eight fully equipped pioneer cabins. As of 2013, the Thorny Mountain Fire Tower is also being renovated and will be available for overnight rentals. Public hunting and fishing are available in the forest. Visitors can boat on the Seneca Lake. The forest contains a section of the Allegheny Trail and other trails and is near the Greenbrier River Trail. Randolph County is a county located in the U.S. state of West Virginia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 27,932. Its county seat is Elkins.
