This article lists the stations of the Shanghai Metro, a rapid transit system serving Shanghai, China and one of the fastest-growing metro systems in the world. The first section opened in 1993, and the system currently has of track in operation, making it one of the world's largest rapid transit system by route length and second largest by number of stations. The tables below contain the 515 stations on the Shanghai Metro operational (506 counting interchanges between different lines separately, with the exception of the 9 stations shared by lines 3 and 4 on the same track) of which there are 408 unique stations (counting interchange stations as one station). The stations on the Shanghai maglev train and Jinshan railway are not included, as they use a fare system separate from and are not considered part of the Shanghai Metro network. Huangpu District, Shanghai
Huangpu District (), makes up the eastern part of Shanghai's traditional urban core and is today the most central of Shanghai's 16 districts. Huangpu district is the seat of municipal government, includes key attractions such as The Bund and the Old City God Temple, as well as popular shopping districts such as Nanjing Road, Huaihai Road and Xintiandi. The Huangpu District is one of the most densely populated urban districts in the world. Location The Huangpu District is located in central Shanghai, People's Republic of China on the left bank (i.e., west or north bank) of Huangpu River, after which the district is named. Hongkou District
, formerly spelled Hongkew, is a district of Shanghai, forming part of the northern urban core. It has a land area of and a population of 852,476 as of 2010. It is the location of the Astor House Hotel, Broadway Mansions, Lu Xun Park, and Hongkou Football Stadium. Putuo District, Shanghai
Putuo District (), is a municipal district of Shanghai Municipality, People's Republic of China. It covers an area of . Putuo District borders Baoshan District to the north, Jing'an District to the east and south east, Changning District to the south west and Jiading District to the west. Pudong
Pudong is a district of Shanghai located east of the Huangpu, the river which flows through central Shanghai. The name ''Pudong'' was originally applied to the Huangpu's east bank, directly across from the west bank or Puxi, the historic city center. It now refers to the broader Pudong New Area, a state-level new area which extends all the way to the East China Sea. The traditional area of Pudong is now home to the Lujiazui Finance and Trade Zone and the Shanghai Stock Exchange and many of Shanghai's best-known buildings, such as the Oriental Pearl Tower, the Jin Mao Tower, the Shanghai World Financial Center, and the Shanghai Tower. Line 17, Shanghai Metro
Line 17 of the Shanghai Metro (), formerly known as the Qingpu line (), is an east-west rapid transit line that runs between in Minhang District and in Qingpu District. All stations are fully accessible. It is in length with 13 stations. The line entered passenger trial operations on 30 December 2017. It is the first metro line to primarily service the suburban Qingpu District. Metro service arrived in Qingpu in 2010 with the opening of , the western terminus of line 2. Qingpu District, Shanghai
Qingpu District, is a suburban district of Shanghai Municipality. Lake Dianshan is located in Qingpu. The population of Qingpu was counted at 1,081,000 people in the 2010 Census. It has an area of . Qingpu District is the westernmost district of Shanghai Municipality; it is adjacent to Jiangsu and Zhejiang Provinces. Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. An alternative arrangement is to position side platforms on either side of the tracks. The historical use of island platforms depends greatly upon the location. Side Platform
A side platform (also known as a marginal platform or a single-face platform) is a railway platform, platform positioned to the side of one or more railway tracks or guideways at a railway station, tram stop, or bus rapid transit, transitway. A station having dual side platforms, one for each direction of travel, is the basic design used for double-track railway lines (as opposed to, for instance, the island platform where a single platform lies between the tracks).
